William Shatner joins Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revolution

From the final frontier to Eternia. During the Masters of the Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that none other than William Shatner had joined the cast of Kevin Smith’s animated Netflix series, Masters of the Universe: Revolution.

Kevin Smith wouldn’t spill the beans on who William Shatner would be voicing in Masters of the Universe: Revolution, but he said, “We needed a man who went to space.” Shatner also displayed his legendary humbleness when he joked about his counter direction to Smith while recording his lines: “Kevin, Kevin, in a moment you will have the honour of directing me.

Masters of the Universe: Revolution will be the follow-up to Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the successor to the original 1980s series that focused on some of the show’s unresolved storylines. The first five episodes of Masters of the Universe: Revelation were released on Netflix last July, with the remaining five following suit in November. The series picked up where the original left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured, and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe. Coming from Mattel Television and Powerhouse Animation, Masters of the Universe: Revolution will pick up where Masters of the Universe: Revelation left off as it finds He-Man and Skeletor facing off as you’ve never seen them before.

We don’t know all that much about Masters of the Universe: Revolution yet, but Kevin Smith did tease that the story is fun and full of adventure but also very moving. He added that He-Man will be in every episode this time, and other classic characters will also be turning up… including Hordak, Skeletor’s former mentor. Who do you think William Shatner will be voicing in Masters of the Universe: Revolution?
