Good start as Okutoyi revenge over Kuhl in US Open

Fresh from winning Doubles at J1 Repentigny Tennis title in Canada, kenyan junior tennis champion Angella Okutoyi has started on a good note winning the opening match at the US Open Junior Tennis Championships.

The Kenyan put up a spirited fight to see off German Carolina Kuhl 7-6 and 7-5 in her first round singles match at the Flushing Meadows in New York.

The Wimbledon Doubles champion set up a sweet revenge after losing to Kuhl 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the JA Cape Town in October 2021 in South Africa.

Okutoyi, who is playing her last Grand Slam as a junior player, will meet Taylah Preston in the second round.

In Canada, she lost the Singles to Mia Kupres in the first round at the Junior Championships Wimbledon.
