We’re not GrowTraffic.com (or GrowTraffic.co)

Over the years, we’ve had a steady stream of emails, calls and messages from people saying things like:

    “I think I’ve been scammed.”
“I bought something from GrowTraffic but I can’t get my money back.”
“Is this you? The website looks different.”

And every time, the answer is the same:

    No – that wasn’t us.
We’re GrowTraffic.co.uk, the UK SEO and content marketing agency.
    We’re not GrowTraffic.com.
    And we’re not GrowTraffic.co either.

Given the amount of confusion out there, we thought it was time to put all of this in one place and clear things up properly.

    The Short Version

    • We are GrowTraffic.co.uk, a UK-based SEO and content marketing agency founded in 2009.
    • GrowTraffic.com is a completely separate company based overseas, offering unrelated services.
    • GrowTraffic.co is another unrelated business, recently set up in India.
    • We are not connected to, affiliated with or responsible for anything done by either of these companies.

If you’ve worked with us, spoken to us or read our content, you’ll know exactly who we are. We are GrowTraffic. The original and definitive. But if you’ve landed here after a confusing Google search, you’re not alone.

    Why The Confusion Happens

When I started thinking about launching GrowTraffic back in 2009, both the .co.uk and .com domains were available. As a UK business, the .co.uk made sense, so that’s the one I bought. It was a few months after I’d first been thinking about GrowTraffic as the name for my soon-to-be-launched business and back in those days, there was a trend for domain registrars to snap up good domains that people had searched for a few times and then put them on the market. When I got around to registering growtraffic.co.uk, the .com domain had already been snapped up by someone else.

For the next five or so years, nothing happened. The .com sat there unused and, at one point, for sale at a price that always seemed just a bit too steep at the time. Life moved on. We built the business. We built the brand. And in the UK market, we completely owned the name.

Then, around 2014, the .com finally went live with an unrelated website.

Since then, things have gone through various phases:

    • The .com being used.
    • The .com being taken down.
    • The .com being for sale again.
    • The .com being used for services totally unrelated to anything we do.

And most recently, a new GrowTraffic.co has appeared, operating out of India, doing something similar to what the .com website does.

All this makes for a messy search landscape. Understandably, people get confused.

People Contact Us About The .com All The Time

Over the years, we’ve had countless messages from people who:

    • purchased something through the .com,
    • didn’t receive what they expected,
    • couldn’t get in touch with anyone,
    • or simply weren’t sure which GrowTraffic was the real one.

We always explain the situation as clearly and kindly as possible. We’ve become strangely experienced in telling people, “That wasn’t us, but here’s what you can do next.”

It’s never been pleasant, but it’s one of the reasons we’re writing this post: to help prevent more people from falling into that confusion.

    Who We Are

We are GrowTraffic.co.uk or GrowTraffic. We are an award-winning UK SEO agency, offering market leading SEO and content marketing services. We work mainly with UK-based clients, but we’ve had clients on every continent.

We’ve been around for more than 15 years and we focus on:

    • SEO strategies
    • Content marketing
    • PPC
    • Lead generation
    • Digital consultancy
    • Ethical, sustainable search practices
    • Bit of SEO website building

We’re made up of a real UK team – full of SEO consultants and specialists – with real clients, working from our bases in Lancashire and South Yorkshire. If you’ve spoken to Simon, Rachel, Hannah or the team, you were speaking to us.

    We don’t sell website traffic.
    We don’t sell bots.
We don’t do quick-fix hits of “10,000 visits for $20”.
That’s never been our world and never will be.

How To Know You’re In The Right Place

If you want to make sure you’re dealing with the real GrowTraffic, here’s what to look for:

    www.growtraffic.co.uk
✔ Our teal, yellow and white branding
✔ Our “We’re human beings, not robots” tone of voice
✔ The names Dalley (or Simon), Rachel or Hannah keep popping up
✔ Actual content marketing knowledge rather than vague promises of “Guaranteed Traffic”
✔ A UK company number, VAT number and UK trading address
✔ Reference to our offices in the Church we bought in Bacup

If you’re seeing something very different to that, you’re probably on one of the lesser GrowTraffic domains. I can’t say whether they’re any good or not because we’ve never tried them but what I can say is the .com site has some not-so-great reviews.

So, Why Don’t We Just Buy The .com?

Trust me, over the years I’ve tried.

Over the years, the domain has been:

    • unused,
    • parked,
    • for sale at wildly inflated prices,
    • used for unrelated traffic-selling services

I’ve reached out politely more than once. Back in 2014 we even received a wonderfully unnecessary message informing us that we’d “never be able to compete” with them. Fortunately, history and I have our own sense of humour.

These days, domains change hands like a hot potato. And yes, I’m still keeping an eye on it. If the .com came available tomorrow, I’d be thinking about my options for buying it. One day it might make sense to bring it into the fold, but until then:

A domain is not a brand.
    People are the brand.
    The work is the brand.
The history and successes are the brand.
And we’ve always focused on the work and our people.

If You’ve Been Confused Before, You’re Not Alone

If you’re reading this because you weren’t sure which GrowTraffic you’d been dealing with, we completely understand. It’s an easy mistake to make and even seasoned marketers have ended up on the wrong website.

If you’ve had a bad experience with the .com or the .co, we’re sorry that happened to you, but it wasn’t us. If you need pointing in the right direction, just drop us a message. We’re always happy to help someone get untangled.

Remember, if in doubt, give us a shout!
