Principal Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a key member of the executive team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Programs will be the lead program officer responsible for the programmatic success in the following areas: Mental Health, Older Adults and Workforce divisions. The Vice President, Programs will lead compelling program strategy, development, delivery, and evaluation, utilizing Commonpoint Queens facilities, resources and satellite locations to their fullest. They will also partner with a large, amazing and talented team, providing seamless team leadership, management, and development. Key responsibilities include:
Programmatic Excellence and Team Leadership
- Lead, create, and drive an innovative, high-performing strategy of current and new programs for the Mental Health, Older Adults, and Workforce Development Divisions.
- Supervise, strengthen, and mentor a dynamic team with the goal of creating deeper cross-program collaborations, open communication, and an environment where staff thrive.
- Utilize strong measurement and evaluation systems that collect and analyze data to identify and implement efficiencies, accelerate program impact and seek continuous improvement.
- Ensure fiscally responsible and revenue-generating programs; work closely with the CFO to develop and maintain a budget including forecasting and anticipating trends and variances.
- Partner with the Development team to cultivate public funding sources, write grant proposals, and maximize funding opportunities.
- Work with the leadership team to develop a professional evaluation and development system for all staff that sets objective measurements and goals and addresses employee experience and skill gaps.
- Assures that contract requirements are met and acts as the relationship manager with governmental and other funders.
Organizational Innovation and Partnerships
- Partner with the Development team to cultivate public funding sources, write grant proposals, and maximize funding opportunities.

- Not-for-profit experience: Youve worked in a not-for-profit agency, understand regulatory compliance expectations of public funding and understand some of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with the territory. Additionally, you have an advanced degree (LCSW preferred) with 5+ years of experience at the executive management level and direct experience working with the program areas you are responsible for.

COMPENSATION: Salary range will be $150,000 – $170,000. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.

Commonpoint Queens is a multifaceted community center dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the quality of individual, family and communal life throughout Queens, offering services to people of all ages, ability levels, stages of life and backgrounds. They strive to meet the evolving needs of their community of over 50,000 members ranging from providing in-school and after-school programs, professional and career development, assistance with food insecurity, legal services, financial counseling, mental health services, senior classes, dementia care programs, and tax preparation assistance to name a few. Commonpoint Queens has grown tremendously in the last five years and now has a budget of about $60 MM, a mission-driven staff of 1,200 and close to 60 sites in Queens.
There are multiple divisions within Commonpoint Queens to house its programs and the three core divisions overseen by the Vice President, Programs comprise 50% of the agencys overall programmatic portfolio:
Adult Workforce: Centered in a new 10,000 square foot employment hub in Elmhurst, Queens, the workforce division provides services in everything from job training and placement to support for food insecurity, benefits screenings and everything in between.
Older Adult Services: The agencys goal is to provide stimulating and enriching programs and services for all ages, and they take pride in offering cutting edge social, wellness and educational opportunities for the most vulnerable population across dozens of locations.
Mental Health Services: The upcoming launch of an Article 31 mental health clinic for adolescents will build on their vast experience and stellar reputation for operating one of the top geriatric mental health clinics (with satellite locations) in the city, transforming service delivery across the portfolio.
