Nintendo and Illumination have dropped the first official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Chris Pratt is Mario and Charlie Day is Luigi in the official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which has dropped online following its debut during a special Nintendo Direct presentation. The trailer premiered with a video message from legendary Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, teasing the upcoming animated movie.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens with a look at the villainous Bowser before jumping into a scene with Mario and Toad. The sneak peek ends with a brief action scene, showing Luigi running away from a group of Dry Bones. You can check out the trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie below.
In addition to Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, The Super Mario Bros. Movie also features the voice talents of Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike. The movie is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a script by Matthew Fogel.
Nintendo and Universal are co-financing The Super Mario Bros. Movie, with the latter handling the distribution. Illumination, which is co-owned by Universal, has previously worked on Despicable Me, Minions, The Secret Life of Pets, and Sing.
