The Metro and Trams to Stop Running Between Thursday and Friday; HKL: No Replacement Services Will Be Provided | Finland Today | News in English | finlandtoday.fi

HELSINKI—The metro and tram services will not run between Thursday and Friday because of a work stoppage by drivers.

“No replacement services will be provided during the work stoppage,” the Helsinki City Transport Authority (HKL) noted in a statement. This is because, according to HKL, it’s impossible in “such a hurried schedule.”

Other public transport services will run as usual but especially buses running along the metro line may be crowded, HKL noted.

The strike is an objection to a plan to incorporate the city transport authority. The workers at HKL have demanded a new study on the results of turning the transport authority into a limited company but, apparently, this is not going to happen.

The drivers will return to work on Saturday at 04:00, and the metro and trams will again operate on a normal schedule.
