The King’s Theatre hosts its first show in 545 days with a grand ribbon cutting

After being closed for over a year and a half due to the coronavirus pandemic, The King’s Theatre opened their doors for the first time this week with a grand ribbon cutting celebration.

It has been extremely tough on everyone but particularly for the entertainment industry – so when it was time for the curtain to rise for the first time with a performance of ‘Chicago’ it really was smiles all round.

Posting on their Instagram, the theatre wrote: “Chicago: this is your half hour call. Only 30 minutes to go until the curtain rises at the King’s Theatre for the first time in more than 500 days!

“A big congratulations to our first patrons through door, Pamela and Heather. We hope you enjoy your complementary fizz.

In another post, the star-studded cast can be seen cutting a huge ribbon at the front door for the grand opening.

They said: “Of course we had to pull out all the stops to mark our grand reopening, and what would a grand reopening be with out a giant ribbon and the stars of the show? A big thanks to the cast and crew of Chicago for bringing our theatre back to life.”

The cast, which is made up of names such as Sinitta, Davina Da Campo, Darren Day and Coronations Street’s Faye Brookes.
