One of my all-time favorite retailers is Nordstrom. They carry so many brands that I love in a range of prices, and their customer service is top tier (you can return almost anything at any time and they cover return shipping).
Every season I love to go through the new arrivals on Nordstrom.com and round up my favorite finds. Today’s post is all about fall dresses since we’re finally approaching the cooler months. I always appreciate a great dress find since it’s an outfit all on it’s own versus needing multiple pieces. (I also have a post about wedding guest dresses from Nordstrom.)
Below I’m rounding up casual, work, and dressier dress finds. I hope something works for you!

Casual Dresses from Nordstrom
Frame Banded Cotton Jersey Dress
This Cotton Jersey Dress was so much better in person (I grabbed it during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale). I wasn’t even going to try it on, considering the price and because it just looked meh, but I loved it as soon as I put it on. It runs TTS – I got an XS. Perfect for all-day comfort and style!
Polo Sweater Midi Dress
This Polo Sweater Midi Dress was the very first thing I tried on at the Nordstrom Sale because I was so excited about it. I wanted to try an XS, but they didn’t have it, so I got the small, and I actually think it’s perfect since too tight in this style would be less flattering. The perfect dress for a lunch date or summer evening!

Stripe Stretch Cotton Tank Maxi Dress
I love this olive green midi dress because of the ribbed top and stripe detail. Dresses like this work really well for baby bumps, too, if you’re pregnant. The olive color is perfect for fall too! Moon River makes such chic and affordable dresses! The listing calls this a maxi dress, but I’d say it’s a midi.
AirEssentials Long Sleeve Knit Shift Dress
If you’ve never tried on something from the AirEssentials line from SPANX, you are missing out. It’s the softest, smoothest, cooling material ever. I love everything about it. This sweatshirt shift dress would be such a nice option for lounging (especially with a bump). I’d pair it with campo sneakers!
Polo Sweater Dress
This polo sweater dress is a great everyday dress that you can dress up or dress down with chunky loafers, white sneakers, or Mary Jane flats. It’s a perfect transition dress because it’s warm but not overly hot.
Smocked Puff Sleeve Midi Dress in Stripe Poplin
This Smocked Puff Sleeve Midi Dress has the most flattering, comfortable, and tailored fit. With hidden side pockets and a timeless silhouette, it’s perfect for all-day wear, running errands, or fun events! I would wear this with these strap block heels for a dressier look or any of these sandals to make it more casual.
Work Dresses from Nordstrom
Ruffle Sleeve Sheath Dress
I’m always drawn to Eliza J dresses because they are so classic. The length of this patch pocket A-line dress is perfect for all things work and super flattering, but there’s also nothing boring about it. The goldtone buttons and pocket detailing make the dress pop and give it interest!
Drawstring Waist Shirtdress
This belted waist linen blend shirtdress is a personal favorite I’d like to add to my closet and another work-appropriate winner. The tie waist is flattering and feminine, and the button-down look is professional. The black gives it a super chic look and the back pockets are a fun addition. Accessorize with gold jewelry (Mejuri is my favorite brand for high-quality, everyday jewelry) and a work tote– these are my favorites!
Short Sleeve Cotton Shirtdress
Another Eliza J dress! I love the hem on this short-sleeved shirtdress – it adds a fun, feminine, but still polished detail. This would pair well with ballet flats or simple heels! Here’s a roundup of all of my favorite (and comfortable) work shoes.
Halogen Tie Waist Midi Shirtdress
Similar to the dress above, I love this black tie waist dress because it can be worn in the summer and into the middle of fall since the short sleeves make it the perfect transition dress. It’s less chic but more breezy.
Ruched Sleeveless Knit Midi Dress
This longer mock neck dress would be great for an office setting this fall. You could layer a relaxed blazer like this over the top, pair it with classic nude pumps, and you’ll be golden.
Dressy Dresses from Nordstrom
If you’ve got something a little fancier on the calendar– weddings, parties, dinners out– this section is for you. These are the dresses I’d reach for when I want to feel just a little extra without overdoing it. I’m all about fabrics, flattering silhouettes, and styles that photograph beautifully but are still comfortable enough to actually enjoy the event. This post has wedding guest dresses from Nordstrom if you need cocktail or black tie options.
Steve Madden Lace Maxi Dress
If you have a fall wedding or trips to the mountains with a date night in the mix, this lace maxi dress is the dress to get. So flattering and comfortable. It runs TTS – I got an XS!

Veronica Beard Belted Denim Shirtdress
This puff-sleeve belted denim shirtdress is gorgeous. It’s TTS, but I sized up to a small because the XS was a little tight in the chest since I’m still breastfeeding. Pairs beautifully with these woven block heels I’m wearing below!

Lace Panel Long Sleeve Minidress
This little black dress is SO cute for a dressy occasion this fall and winter. The lace detailing on the sleeves is the perfect dainty touch, and the tie waist adds the perfect snatch to fit like a dream. Pair this with a cute pair of strappy heels like these.
Floral Long Sleeve Jersey Maxi Dress
I’ve been eyeing this floral maxi dress for a bit, but the only problem is that I don’t have anywhere to wear it… so if you have a fall or winter wedding coming up, please get this dress. I think it would be absolutely stunning on, and I’d pair it with simple black strappy heels like these.
Cowl Neck Asymmetric Satin Midi Dress
I LOVE this brown satin dress. This would be the perfect dress for an event this fall. The color is fun, but the shape and length are both conservative. Since satin is a dressier fabric, it can easily be dressed up with accessories for a wedding or cocktail party.
Off the Shoulder Mikado Midi Cocktail Dress
It’s hard to think about the holidays this early, but this is truly the perfect red holiday cocktail dress for upcoming holiday parties this year. The deep red is festive, the off-the-shoulder is so elegant, and the ruched detail is flattering! Get this now and thank me later this year.
I hope this post was helpful and that you find something you love for any upcoming events. Or, just to refresh your wardrobe a bit!
