Taron Egerton has set the record straight on the rumors that he’s been cast as the next Wolverine by Marvel Studios.
Despite announcing two Avengers films and Fantastic Four for Phase Six, Marvel Studios is still holding back on their plans for the X-Men in live-action. However, Marvel Studios recently bought back Patrick Stewart as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and revealed Kamala Khan is a Mutant in Ms. Marvel.
Is Taron Egerton Playing Wolverine?
Fans are still anxious to find out when the heavy X-Men hitters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, and others will finally enter the MCU under Marvel Studios’ vision. Kingsman star Taron Egerton has been a fan favorite to succeed Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and the 32-year-old actor revealed he’s already met with Kevin Feige. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Egerton clarified that while the Wolverine role excites him, he has not been cast in the role:
“So the reality is that there’s been a lot of fancasting for it. I took a general meeting with Kevin about four years ago, where I said I love the movies, I would love to do something, and he said, it would be great if we could find something. I walked away and haven’t spoken to him since. I check my emails every five minutes. There was a character I mentioned in that meeting, but it wasn’t that one, so that puts it in perspective. There’s no reality to it.”
Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ most recent film, Thor: Love and Thunder:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
