ODESSA, TEXAS—The Odessa Country Club on April 7 was the locale for a gathering of some of the best human beings in West Texas and New Mexico as the Permian Basin Petroleum Association held its annual “Spring Swing.” This golf tournament, a four-man scramble, was played over two courses simultaneously. Beautiful weather greeted the full slate of teams as, once again, the golf gods smiled upon the PBPA. How long will the nice weather streak continue?
Regardless, this year’s event was good. And maybe it is a harbinger of a good 2025 for all the oil and gas interests who had involvement either through player participation, sponsorships, or volunteer support.
Spring Swing is generally a swag-happy occasion, and this year’s iteration was no different.
Golfers arrived at 11 a.m. for registration and lunch, followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The closing reception began at 5 p.m., during which the afternoon’s awards were presented.
The event always brings awesome food. The cookers this year were Lucky Family of Excellence, New Wave Energy Services, LCM, and Liberty Energy.
Once again, one of the two longest drives of the day was launched by a lady. Congrats to Kristina Braun.
PBPA members are urged to mark their calendars for the upcoming PBPA Sporting Clay Shoot and Oil Patch Pit King Challenge, which is scheduled for Friday, June 6, in Midland at Jake’s Guns and Clays, at 13301 FM 1379. For information on that event as it develops, visit PBPA’s website at pbpa.info.
