Registration is underway for Red Bull Quicket UAE 2021 – Sport360 News

Red Bull UAE announces that registration for Red Bull Quicket – UAE 2021 is now open, with participants encouraged to sign up as quickly as possible as limited slots are available.

The exciting sports tournament – which first debuted in the UAE in 2011 – returns for yet another edition, from 24 September to 8 October 2021, with a format that street level and domestic level cricketers will be all too familiar with.

Red Bull Quicket will kick off its first qualifier on Friday September 24 in Ras Al Khaimah, followed by three other qualifiers in Ajman and Dubai leading to the grand finals in October 8 at Nasma Central, Sharjah’s new lifestyle hub.

Adopting a “2vs2” format, or two players per side, each Red Bull Quicket match lasts ten minutes and consists of 2 overs per innings, 6 balls per over, and each bowler one over. On field are small goal posters of Red Bull Quicket: 3 runs, 5 runs and 6 runs. The aim of the game is simple… Hit the goal, and the team is awarded the runs. If the ball escapes the goal line, then no runs are awarded.

A match is not over until both sides play complete quota of overs; but it should be noted that only runs scored with the cricket bat will be considered. That means no leg byes, no byes, and no overthrows.

If a game match ends in a tie, then the winning team will be decided by the referee flipping a coin. If the finals end in a tie, then the super over will decide the champions.

Intrigued? You should be.

Registration for the qualifiers has already started and you can sign up via the official Red Bull Quicket – UAE events page. Four UAE qualifiers will take place between September and October, followed by the grand finals in Sharjah’s Nasma Central Park on 8 October.

Red Bull Quicket UAE 2021 is being held with support from Arada, the tournament’s sponsor and the master developer behind Nasma Central Park.

Ray Tinston, Director of Events at Arada, said: “The Red Bull Quicket tournament has proved its popularity in the UAE since it was first introduced 10 years ago, and we are delighted to support the 2021 edition on a national level at the beginning of the winter season. We’re also looking forward to hosting the final qualifier at the newly opened Nasma Central community centre and park to entertain and engage our residents in events that promote an active healthy lifestyle in the UAE.”
