Ontario Hospital Association looks to lobby Ottawa – iPolitics

    The association for Ontario hospital wants to talk about healthcare talent with decision-makers in Ottawa.

    The Ontario Hospital Association was registered to lobby this past week by Avigail Rucker, a consultant with Crestview Strategy, primarily to advocate for federal action on the Health Human Resources (HHR) crisis by delivering a Pan-Canadian strategy that addresses recruitment, retention, and other key issues. As well, the client sought to advocate for increased funding into Canada Health Transfers to help bolster healthcare delivery capacity. An additional topic of discussion was centered around doubling the funding investment to the Tri-Council (CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) to bring Canada into competitive balance globally.

    New Registrations

    Since May 3, Questrade Financial Group Inc. was the most registered organization, with four unique registrations made on their behalf. 

    Since May 3, Maple Leaf Strategies led all registrant groups with six unique registrations. They were followed by The Capital Hill Group, StrategyCorp Inc., and Enterprise Canada which each had five unique registrations.

    From May 3-9, Laura D’Angelo from Enterprise Canada led all lobbyists with four unique registrations. She was followed by Ian Faris from Maple Leaf Strategies who had three unique registrations.

    In recent agriculture/trade registrants:

    Les Producteurs De Lait Du Québec were registered in-house by André St-Pierre, a member of the board of directors. The primary focus of their lobby effort was to work with the Government of Canada to jointly develop, with provincial authorities, a program supporting the required investments that will enable Canadian dairy farms to implement the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Dairy Cattle. Additional discussions were held with regard to the legislative framework required for uniform application of Canadian dairy policy.

    In recent defence/security registrants:

    The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) was registered by Laura D’angelo, a consultant with Enterprise Canada. The purpose of their lobbying effort was to coordinate with decision makers on their participation in the CANSEC 2025 trade show, Canada’s leading defence, security & emerging technology event.

    In recent energy/environment/climate registrants:

    The Trans Canada Trail was registered by Greg MacNeil, a consultant with NorthStar Public Affairs Inc. to advocate for continued access for the Trail through national parks as well as to contribute to the development of a National Trails Strategy. Discussions were also held with regard to funding to allow for the promotion of the Trail to Canadians and visitors and to maintain and improve The Great Trail.

In particular, the company hopes to raise awareness for some of the leading cyber security solutions applied in other jurisdictions, and upcoming trends in the industry.

This would be done in part through supporting Canadian Ultra Low Cost Carriers (ULCC) through financial assistance and other contributions or benefits.
