If you have, it’s probably because of Olga, founder of The Natural Faces aka @naturalfacebible. After intuitively avoiding Botox 20 years ago and becoming obsessed with natural beauty practices, Olga is proof that you don’t need to spend a ton of time or money on invasive procedures.

From face taping to popular trends she’s actually against, she is here to tell us all about the power of natural solutions to achieve youthful, healthy looking skin.

Introduce yourself to The Skinny Confidential audience.

Olga: Hi beauties! I’m Olga but you might know me as @naturalfacebible on social media. I’m 49, based in Los Angeles, and the founder of The Natural Faces. I specialize in a natural approach to skincare, beauty, and aging – and I’ve never had Botox.

In my late 30s, many of my friends began exploring Botox. I didn’t know much about the possible risks back then, but something about it didn’t feel right. Maybe it was intuition or my natural approach to beauty and wellness.

At the same time, I was starting to feel concerned about the lines forming on my forehead. I didn’t want to ignore them, but I also didn’t know what natural solutions were available. That curiosity led me to facial massage and I became instantly fascinated. I ended up enrolling in professional facial massage schools and eventually traveling to Europe and Russia for hands-on training. It was during those early courses that I was introduced to face taping and I was hooked from day one.

That was nearly 9 years ago and what started as curiosity turned into a deep passion. I went on to study a variety of advanced techniques including buccal massage, face taping, osteopathic methods, and craniosacral therapy. Seeing the transformation in my own face and well-being made me a true believer in the power of natural beauty practices, and I knew I wanted to share my knowledge with others.

Please give us an outline of your journey and how Natural Faces came to be?

I started a TikTok account in 2020 wanting to share my natural approach to skincare and alternatives to Botox. One of the first videos I posted was on face taping, a method I had been using for years. It went viral but not without controversy. At the time, face taping was virtually unknown in the U.S., and the video stirred up a lot of confusion, criticism, and even hate, especially from injectors and skeptics.

But I kept sharing what I knew and gradually a supportive community formed. As interest grew, so did the questions about what products I used and where to get them. That’s what inspired me to start The Natural Faces. The biggest challenge was sourcing my go-to face tape. It took nearly a year to build the right relationships and bring the high-quality, authentic Japanese face tape I had been using in my own practice to the U.S. Today, that same tape is trusted and loved by thousands around the world.

At the time, the natural approach to skincare and aging wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now. I noticed a lot of synthetic, low-quality products being marketed to younger generations and I wanted to offer an alternative. I saw a growing need for a more natural approach to beauty, one that is rooted in simplicity. I created my shop to share easy routines and high-quality products that actually work. My love for holistic methods, especially traditional Japanese beauty rituals, became the foundation of The Natural Faces.

You’re known for face taping. What would you tell someone who is just getting started? How long until they’ll see results?

What I want people to know is that the real face taping method is not just a beauty tool but also a powerful wellness tool. When practiced correctly, it can offer incredible support even for concerns like neck tension, TMJ pain, headaches, post-op swelling, and so much more. But that’s the key – it needs to be real face taping and not the face patch “stickering” trend that’s unfortunately taken over social media in the last year. What sets face taping apart is that by strategic and proper placement, it works with the body to improve tissue functions and not just temporarily mask aesthetic concerns on the surface.

I often get asked how long to see results but it varies. I always encourage people to check out the “Before/After” highlight on my Instagram to see some of the real results from my community. Some people will have visible improvements in just a few days or weeks, and others it may be months. The timeline depends on many factors including your expectations, your tissue’s ability to respond, the severity of the issue, your daily habits that either support or slow down the healing process, etc. But consistency always pays off!

What is your desert island skincare product? You can only take one thing!

Wow this is hard! I would want a few but if I had to pick just one, it would definitely have to be my face tape. How could it not? It’s incredibly versatile and goes way beyond wrinkle control. I can use it to shield targeted areas like my nose or forehead from the sun, which not only gives me SPF protection but also helps prevent squinting, which leads to frown lines and other wrinkles. If my neck gets stiff or tense I can apply the tape there for relief, and same for TMJ aches and headaches. I can even use a small piece for mouth tape at night.

Are there any wellness practices or habits that you swear by to keep a youthful look?

Absolutely. Habit number #1: Avoid unnecessary beauty procedures or treatments. As much as we want to beautify ourselves, these treatments often setback our facial tissue vitality and proper functions that ultimately lead to premature age-related changes. And that will also save you a lot of money better used for a vacation.

Here are my free beauty and wellness practices that will take your beauty a lot further: Proper tongue posture, body posture, and daily body movement. I also strongly believe in maintaining a relatively stable body weight throughout (of course excluding natural fluctuations like during pregnancy). The skin is deeply affected by frequent weight changes (and I’m not referring to 5-10 pound fluctuations), but the more substantial ones often caused by yo-yo dieting.

Lastly is keeping a positive, youthful mindset. And don’t forget to tell your face and skin “thank you” and “I love you.”

Walk us through how you would manually release tension from the face and jaw at home in 5 minutes.

If you only have 5 minutes, here’s a super simple trick I often do in the evenings to melt the day’s tension away. Grab a plush towel and run it under hot water, then press and hold it against your jaw area, cheeks, and my personal favorite is over your eyes. Let the heat soak in and repeat as the towel cools down. It’s very simple but in just a few minutes you will feel completely reborn.

For an even deeper release, you can follow up with a few buccal massage moves (from inside the mouth) to target jaw tension, and a gentle eye massage to soothe strain from screens or stress (all are on my Instagram Reels). Boom, all of your face tension will evaporate.

What is your morning skincare routine?

I believe natural oral care practice is a big part of skin care. A balanced mouth microbiome is deeply connected to gut health, which is deeply connected to skin health. So my morning routine always begins with tongue scraping, followed by brushing with a natural toothpaste, and a few times a week I’ll add in oil pulling. While I oil pull, I like to multitask with gentle “wake me up” rituals like a quick scalp massage, neck stretches, or whatever my body feels like it needs that morning.

Then onto the face. I never cleanse in the morning and usually don’t wash my face either. I go straight into hydration by spraying a Japanese Hydrating Toner, gently wiping my eyes, and then another round of misting. From there, I apply my selected products for the day based on the season, weather, or how my skin feels. In the dry winter months, I lean into richer, more nourishing textures like a Collagen Cream enhanced with Japanese Pearl Powder. In the humid summer, I’ll reach for a lighter cream or serum. Overall it’s a simple 2–4 product routine.

What is your evening skincare routine?

In the evenings I always start with face cleansing, which is the most foundational step in any skincare ritual. For years now I’ve rotated between a Japanese Rice Bran Cleanser and Oil Cleansing. Cleansing is almost everything. If we get this step right, everything else we apply after will add to the skincare game. But if we mess up the Cleansing step by using harsh, stripping, or poorly formulated cleansers, even the most luxurious creams applied after will struggle to make a difference.

After cleansing, I often do the warm towel compress I mentioned earlier. Keeping tension away from facial tissues and boosting circulation is more powerful for skin longevity and vitality than any fancy or advanced creams out there. I really want more people to understand this.

Then comes product application, which varies night to night. I always start with a few spritzes of hydrating Japanese Toner, and follow up with one chosen product, either a cream or oil, mixed with Japanese Silk or Pearl Powder for ultimate luxury and benefits.

I’ll then apply my Japanese face tape if I’m using them that night and depending on what my needs are. For example, I’ll tape the frown area more in summer when I’m squinting often, or the jaw area if I’m feeling stressed. I never recommend taping the whole face but instead always teach 1-3 targeted applications at once. With taping, and skincare in general, more is not better.

You won’t find me layering ten products (tape, patch, mask, etc…) and posting a morning shed video in the morning. Our facial tissues and receptors don’t appreciate overstimulation at night.

How do you eat and drink for beauty? What makes a noticeable difference in the health of your body, energy and skin?

I focus on quality, collagen-supportive, highly nourishing foods. One of my favorites is homemade bone broth that I make and drink on a regular basis and often for breakfast. Being Russian, caviar has been part of my diet since childhood and is a superfood. Other favorite skin foods are good-quality butter (lots of butter for me) and buckwheat.

I believe it’s important to look at what you avoid as well, which is why you will never catch me drinking anything icy (even cold drinks are a rarity). I stick to warm or room temperature meals and beverages that are far more supportive for our gut health and therefore, for the skin. I also am careful about sugar as it causes skin glycation, which damages collagen.

Supplements are also important and I’m not referencing the trendy ones. I rely on supplements that truly work from within, like my beloved Spermidine and CoQ10 (for some people), both of which support collagen production, cellular health, and longevity.

Is there a skincare practice or secret that is ‘almost’ as good as a procedure?

I think skipping a procedure or two is the secret and often better than the procedures themselves, especially new ones that haven’t had a chance to collect enough data yet. People jumped on Botox and Fillers left and right, but many are now taking a more careful approach after many findings. We’ve been led to believe that in order to slow down skin aging, we need to do things to our skin, but is that actually true? The established hallmarks of skin aging include inflammation (especially repeated or prolonged) and barrier damage, both of which are exactly what many beauty procedures trigger. Especially when they’re repeated, aggressive, or done on already compromised tissues.

Skin CARE isn’t about slathering endless products or procedures, but about protecting, supporting, healing, and strengthening the skin’s barrier and natural functions. Because once those are compromised, the signs of aging only accelerate.

Are there popular procedures that you don’t totally love? Aka, ice baths, red light therapy, sauna, etc.?

Yes, because often they are used without a clear goal, proper technique, or an understanding of how they actually work. I truly believe every tool or practice should have a clear set goal. For the right person, at the right time, with the right approach some of these can be incredible. But for others, they can be pointless at best and harmful at worst.

For example, red light therapy can be amazing and offer a wide range of benefits, but the device type, wavelength, intensity, and protocol should be tailored to your specific goals (skin beautifying, deeper inflammation, pain, trauma, etc.). Otherwise you are just sitting in front of red bulbs.

What’s a book, podcast or resource you recommend? (beauty, business, self-help, philosophy)

My current favorite podcasts are The Him and Her Show, Well with Arielle, and Biohacking Beauty Podcast. These are great podcasts to hear experts in their field and are highly educational.

For books, I highly recommend The Oxygen Advantage by Patrick McKeow, and Breath: The New Science of Lost Art by James Nestor.

Where can everyone find you? And what are you up to next?

You can find me on all socials under @naturalfacebible! I’m always working on my brand, The Natural Faces, to bring you the best natural products. Right now, I’m focused on making our products more accessible to our growing international community.

What’s next? Just as I introduced Face Taping to the US audience back in 2020, I’m now focused on educating people about the differences between the real face taping method and the many dupes that have now flooded social media. My mission is to help more people discover and fall in love with real face taping and continue offering natural tools that support skin health and better aging.

Hope to meet all of you on my Instagram!
