Angella Okutoyi has been named the LG cum Sports Journalists Association of Kenya Sports Personality winner in the month of July.
The sensational tennis player defeated other sports persons like newly crowned world 1,500m champion Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon, newly crowned Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala and Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Korir for the gong.
The Wimbledon Open doubles champion, who partnered with Netherlands Rose Marie Nijkamp, also defeated Menengai Oilers player Dennis Abukuse, Commonwealth Games Para lifter bronze Medalist Hellen Wawira as well as Africa Young Chess player Winnie Kaburo Muthoni.
At 18 years, Okutoyi’s win was followed with a trophy, LG TV worth kshs 120,000.
She follows in the footsteps of WRC3 champion McRae Kimathi, Ruth Chepng’etich, Evans Chebetm Sharon Chepchumba and Maxine Wahome.
