Live: Cummins strikes on stroke of lunch as West Indies crumble on day four

Live: West Indies vs Australia in Grenada

    20th over: Webster gets another

He got a bit of stick in that last over, largely from the on-rushing Hope.

Carey is up to the stumps to prevent any fancy footwork and Hope is defending the first couple.

    19th over: Cummins to Hope

I must admit, I’ve been a bit taken aback by the approach of Hope and Chase since lunch.

They’ve come out swinging, have rode their luck and have scored at more than six an over.

Big shout! Cummins angles one in and it smashes into the pads of Shai Hope. It’s surely missing leg and the umpire agrees.

    But Pat doesn’t.

    He sends it upstairs…..

And yep, that’s a shocker from Cummins.

So bad. Missing leg by a mile.

Hope is playing and missing the next one before playing and defending the one after.

He’s now able to rotate the strike courtesy of an off-side push.

And Chase is defending the last.

    18th over: Webster is back

And Chase is liking the look of the medium pacer, swinging hard and getting a thick inside edge. It flies into the on-side and the batters run a couple.

Another uppish drive falls short of extra cover.

Chase is defending out towards point.

Big hit! That’s massive from Roston Chase, who jumps on an overpitched delivery and smashes Webster back over his head for six.

Chase squirts one out through point and the batters run a couple to finish the over.

    10 runs from it.

    17th over: Cummins to Chase

    Chase is swinging again!

This time, it’s poorly timed and popping up into the air. But it falls short of cover.

Quite pronounced inwards movement sees the next delivery collected down the leg-side by Carey.

Roston Chase is not happy with his blade and a member of the West Indies’ entourage runs out a replacement.

It’s first job is defending a straight one.

Chase is underneath a short one.

He works one away for a single to complete the over.

    16th over: Hazlewood goes again

    Chase is back and defending.

Hazlewood bangs one in short and Chase is standing tall and mis-hitting one behind square for a single.

Four! Another boundary from Shai Hope! This time he opens the face and pushes one behind point.

    The West Indies pass 50.

Chase squeezes one through the same area Hope just exploited and the batters come back for a couple.

Chase gets a quick single into the off-side to end the over.

15th over: Cummins comes in again

    Woah….

Chase is swinging this time! He doesn’t quite time it, but it’s over covers and is rolling to boundary. It plugs before it gets there and the batters run three.

Hope is back and defending and then playing and missing outside off.

This one rears up and nips away off the pitch. Hope is swaying out of the way.

And then defending again to finish the over.

14th over: Hazlewood begins his second spell

He did the damage in his very first over this morning, can he repeat the dose in his second spell?

Chase works the first ball away for a single.

Hazlewood gets his first go at Hope, who angles one out past short leg for a couple.

Woah! Hope is charging at Hazlewood and swinging hard. The ball misses everything and it’s through to Carey. That was brave…

Hope is shimmying forward again, but this time is defending.

Play and a miss! Lovely stuff from Hazlewood. This one angles in and then just holds his line as Hope dangles his bat.

Four! That’s a nice shot from Hope, who drives one over extra cover and to the fence.

13th over continued: Cummins has two to come after lunch

Thanks to lunch being called directly after that Brandon King wicket, Captain Pat has two deliveries to complete the 13th over.

Shot! Shai Hope is swinging straightaway and is off the mark with a boundary through point.

They won’t die wondering here, the West Indies.

LUNCH: West Indies 4-33 (Chase 2)

What a breakthrough on the stroke of lunch, getting Brandon King bowled for 14 after he looked so good to start his innings.

Seven wickets in that session, four of them West Indian, and it feels like we’re barrelling towards an early finale tonight.

The Australian bowling has been excellent to start, but it must be said the West Indian batting has been pretty putrid, albeit on a really tough pitch.

BOWLED HIM! The fresh ball works immdiately for Pat Cummins

Top of off. Top of off. Top of off.

Pat Cummins spears it in, Brandon King plays down the wrong line and the off stump is bent back.

13th over – Pat Cummins trying to get in on the act

The Aussie skipper is the only bowler used without taking a wicket so far.

Brandon King is picking them off well though.

ANOTHER DOG CAMEO! It’s a different dog, just trotting across the outfield behind Pat Cummins at the top of his mark.

We had a black dog on day two and now a tan beauty is wandering around. But only in between deliveries. What a good boy.

We have a ball change. Pat Cummins takes the ball to Richard Kettleborough and it gets stuck in one of the rings, so they’re getting a freshie.

12th over – Big Beau Webster is in again

West Indies captain Roston Chase is throwing his hands at it outside off. That’s a bad shot on any pitch, but especially on this one.

Chase gets off the mark with an expansive drive through cover for two.

    11th over – Cummins continues

EDGED! Dropped? Did it carry? Yes. Brandon King lives to fight another day after his edge goes quickly towards the ground and Cameron Green does well to dive low to his left and get a hand to it, but he can only parry it away. It would’ve been one of the greatest catches ever had he pouched it.

Beau Webster strikes straight away and Brathwaite has to go

    (AP)

The third ball from Beau Webster is a relatively innocuous one outside off, and Kraigg Brathwaite plays a hideous prod at it, getting an edge through to Alex Carey.

Not only was there no footwork, all his body movement was going towards the leg side before his back leg swung around after the nick.

Kraigg Brathwaite’s 100th Test ends in ignominious fashion.

10th over – Beau Webster replaces Josh Hazlewood

Can he find some extra bounce?

9th over – Pat Cummins replaces Mitchell Starc

And Starc is forced to do the fielding off the first ball of the over as Kraigg Brathwaite guides a ball behind point.

Cummins is wide with his first ball to Brandon King, who leaves as the ball rears up sharply. This pitch must be brutal to get in on.

An awkward back-foot drive from King, followed by an outside edge as he pushes forward. But this one doesn’t carry to Usman Khawaja.

FOUR! Full and crushed through mid-on with perfect form. Brandon King’s drives are gorgeous.

8th over – Hazlewood yomps in

Another inside edge squirts too fine for Travis Head at short leg, so they’re running out another helmet for Sam Konstas, who slots in just behind square.

During the delay to get a helmet for Konstas, Kraigg Brathwaite’s walked off to get some sunglasses. It’s not the first time he’s batted in sunglasses. I love it.

But he’s almost nicked off straight away, fending away from his body, but fortunately down to the ground. Cameron Green parries away at third slip, but the ball sneaks through and Brathwaite takes a single.

FYI, the cordon is enormous. Beau Webster at second slip, Cameron Green at third and Mitchell Starc at gully. Wingspan for days.

FOUR! Brandon King is crushing that cover drive. He’s a confident man right now.

7th over continued – First-innings top scorer Brandon King is out there

FOUR! He’s off the mark with a boundary through cover, picking up from his first-innings 75, which is the highest score of the series thus far.

Got him! Keacy Carty is the second wicket to fall

A tough stay at the crease ends for Keacy Carty as he is drawn into a shot outside off and gets a feather through to Alex Carey.

The angle around the wicket in at his body was troubling Carty, and the variable bounce from both bowlers is wreaking havoc, maybe slowing down his footwork.
