BONT STROKES IT THROUGH! HE’S CARVED THEM THIS QUARTER!

By Dean Bilton

2′: BONTEMPELLLLLLLLIIIIIIII! He’s played a dream quarter! He’s floated forward again and taken another big contested grab! Similar shot to his last one…

2′: Schache off the ground now… a behind! IMMENSE pressure, but it’s the Dogs by just a point as half-time approaches.

3′: English’s shot is smothered by the man on the mark. Never mind.

4′: Tim English is playing a blinder right now. A big contested mark on the 50, not long after he made a great contest with the flight at centre wing.

6′: GOLDEN opportunity for Neal-Bullen after a bad Bulldogs turnover at half-back. His shot misses, and we are all tied up.

7′: Spargo reads the jackson tap to perfection and bursts through the pack… but his hurried shot is across the face. A behind.

8′: The Dees have a bit of field position now, and the game is mercifully slowing down just a little. Melbourne have been shellshocked this quarter, but the blueprint to success hasn’t changed for them.

HUNTER KICKS IT! THE WESTERN BULLDOGS ARE IN FRONT!

A contentious free kick of the Selwoos/Shuey variety, but technically there! Certainly can’t argue with the finish there, never in doubt. What a response from the Bulldogs, this has been electric.

10′: Lachie Hunter is caught high! 40m out, directly in front…

BONTEMPELLI SLOTS IT! FAIR GAME THIS!

After a slow start, the Bont is cooking now. A big contested mark and a true kick. Four points in it, this is a cracking game.

13′: BONT! What a mark from the skipper! Floating in from the side in the forward pocket! It’s on the right side for a left-footer too…

By Dean Bilton

13′: Wowee! It’s called a behind, but to my eye it looked like that snuck through! Very tight indeed. Anthony Rocca, anyone?

By Dean Bilton

14′: Bit naughty from Bont on Oliver there, a little bit of leg-to-head contact. But it ends up in a Max Gawn shot in the pocket…

BROWN MAKES NO MISTAKE! DEES BREATH AGAIN!

Off the long run, Brown never looked like missing. That chain came from a great mark by Jackson on centre wing. They took the pace out a bit, and some contested marks settled the Dees down.

By Dean Bilton

16′: Ben Brown! Clunk! Good, strong contested mark from the big man, and he’ll kick from 40 out on a slight angle. All of a sudden, they need this!

17′: BAILEY SMITHHHHHH… HITS THE POST! The Dogs were very nearly in front! Incredible!

AARON NAUGHTON KICKS ANOTHER! THE DOGS ARE OUT!

Treloar again out of the middle! He found Bont, who ran and carried and hit the hot spot. It was Naughton at ground level, not normally his go, but his snap was more than tidy. Dogs right on top here!

TRELOAR AGAIN! THE DOGS HAVE LIFE!

We have a game of footy now! The Bulldogs have started winning some one-on-ones (helped by the fact they aren’t quite as outnumbered to every contest) and Treloar the forward is proving to be devastating. Ten point ball game.
