Kate Middleton attended the Wimbledon Ladies’ Finals on Saturday, wearing a white dress, believed to be by Self-Portrait.
The Princess of Wales looked the epitome of summer chic in the polished look, which she paired with a new woven handbag and suede slingback heels. Skip to outfit details? ⬇
Before play, Kate met with players, officials and guests in her role as Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club—she’s held this role since 2016.
Here she is crossing the bridge, note the crowds gathered below:

Deborah Jevans, AELTC Chair, accompanied the Princess and sat next to her in the Royal Box. Here, the pair are about to meet with players and staff ahead of the match:

The Princess met Wang Ziying, the winner of the ladies’ wheelchair final, as well as the two young girls selected to perform the famous coin toss.
12-year-old Sophie Kneen performed the coin toss for the ladies’ final, and eight-year-old Lydia Lowe performed it for the wheelchair final.
Lydia was representing the Dan Maskell Trust and had overcome a brain injury last year.

Kate asked Lydia if she was feeling nervous about fulfilling her role, then asked her for some advice. In a sweet moment, Lydia told the Princess to” take deep breaths” before she steps on the court to hand out the winner’s trophy. Kate said, “ok, I’ll remember that, thank you”.
The Princess chatted with several people who work at Wimbledon, including a ticket sales operator and an honorary steward who has worked at the Championships every year since 1980.
Showing concern over the weather, Kate was overheard asking staff, “how have you coped in this heat? It’s been so hot, hasn’t it?” The UK is experiencing a heatwave at the moment.
When the Princess took her seat in the Royal Box, the waiting crowd gave her a standing ovation.

The Princess of Wales, 43, appeared at the event with club chair Debbie Jevans and received an emotional welcome as she made her way to her seat at Centre Court. As seen in a video shared to X by Wimbledon, the crowd clapped and cheered on their feet as Princess Kate made her way to her seat in the front row of the Royal Box.
“Centre Court rises to give a warm welcome to our Patron HRH The Princess of Wales,” read the caption of the clip, with purple and green heart emojis (the club’s official colors).
PEOPLE

The Princess looked a little surprised and perhaps a bit emotional as the crowd cheered for her.

She smiled and took her seat after shaking hands with tennis legend Billie Jean King. The two were seen in conversation throughout the match.

The princess watched Iga Swiatek play against Amanda Anisimova, beating her 6-0 6-0.

Following the game, the Princess presented Swiatek with the Venus Rosewater Dish—the ladies’ championship trophy.

Broadcaster Clare Balding overheard Kate consoling Anisimova, telling her she should be “so proud”.
Let’s move on to the outfit portion of this post now!
Kate’s outfit at Wimbledon today.
The Princess wore a chic white ensemble to the Ladies’ final. I think the dress is by Self-Portrait.

I know it looks like she’s wearing a jacket and skirt, but this silhouette is classic Self Portrait; it’s one of the British brand’s signature looks. Looking back at my notes, the Princess has worn 5 similar blazer-skirt dresses by the company to date. Notably, this lime green midi at Wimbledon in 2023 (thanks to Lauren for reminding me!)
This is today’s outfit:

And this is the Princess in 2023:

The dresses look similar, right?
We’ve had no official confirmation about Kate’s Wimbledon outfit, and I cannot find the exact cream dress online on Self Portrait’s website or at any of their stockists.
Vogue and other media publications have written that it’s a Self Portrait piece—I have no idea if they’ve had confirmation from the brand, or if they’ve taken this information from fans chatting on social media (the latter has happened before, and has led to national newspapers confidently declaring Kate is wearing a brand, and it turned out to be wrong—on more than one occasion!)
If Self Portrait did indeed design the dress (and I suspect they did), it looks like a custom commission. We know the Princess has a close relationship with Self Portrait as she’s worn custom pieces from the brand before—dresses with different buttons than you can buy off the rack, dresses with modified necklines for modesty, etc. So that wouldn’t surprise me. Or it might be a dress that the brand plans to add to their website in the future.
Below, here are six Self-Portrait dresses that share elements with Kate’s dress:

From top, clockwise: 1) the mandarin collar. 2) This dress is very similar, structurally, especially the flap pockets and seams on the bodice. 3) This dress has a high collar, and the belt is a match for Kate’s. 4) This dress features similar seams and covered buttons (though the belt is slimmer). Finally, Dress 5 and Dress 6 have a similar look, especially the skirts.
Kate’s a fan of Self-Portrait—and it’s easy to see why. The brand’s dresses align perfectly with her style. They strike the right balance for events like this, where she’s there to enjoy the moment, but ultimately representing the Royal Family in her role as patron.
Kate has more than 10 items from Self Portrait in her closet—that we’ve seen publicly, at least. In addition to the six dresses, we’ve seen her in jackets and cardigans from the brand, too.
Self-Portrait is a London-based brand, founded in 2013. Founder Han Chong had a creative vision to make beautiful design accessible to all women. The Malaysian-born designer unites a refined aesthetic with a deft understanding of structure and materials, creating feminine but elegantly functional pieces.
Chong believes in “celebrating and empowering the women in the clothes.”
Kate’s not the only royal who wears Self-Portrait. Meghan Markle and Princess Beatrice have also been spotted in the brand. Other A-list fans include Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, Margot Robbie, Jessica Biel and Reece Witherspoon.
Let’s continue the deep dive now and look at the Princess’s accessories and footwear. Let’s start with those slingback pumps. They’re the ‘Ribbon 85 Sling’ style by Gianvito Rossi.

The Princess debuted the shoes at Wimbledon in 2023, shown in the image above, where she’s wearing the green dress. She also wore them to a Buckingham Palace garden party earlier this year.
The shoes feature a pointed toe, a branded insole and an 85mm high heel. The buckle is quite distinctive and features a small gold ribbon (hence the shoe’s name). Each pair is made in Italy, lined with leather and has a leather sole.
I don’t think Kate’s neutral-coloured suede slingbacks are available to buy at present. The designer has them on his website in white leather for £690. There’s a limited amount of the shoe in burgundy suede at MyTheresa too, for £910.
As my regular readers will know, Kate is a huge fan of the Italian footwear designer, Gianvito Rossi. She wears his creations often. I’m starting to lose count of how many pairs of his shoes and boots she’s worn—I think it was 18 different pairs at last count, including the same style in 10 different colours.
Kate donned a new pair of sunglasses, a pair of cat-eye shaped frames by Ralph Lauren.

The Princess wears the ‘Ralph RA5305U’ style in Black Havana. The lightweight polyamide frames repel water and have classic tinted lenses.
I’ve found the sunglasses in stock at Opticians Direct for only £65—they retail for £90+ everywhere else I’ve looked. If they happen to be out of stock, try Vista Expert for £69.
The Princess is no stranger to Ralph Lauren; she’s turned to the brand for numerous engagements over the last 14 years—from patterned blouses to heeled boots to smart knits.
Of course, Ralph Lauren is an iconic American fashion house celebrated for its timeless, all-American aesthetic—crisp tailoring, classic shirting, and a polished mix of preppy and equestrian influences.
Kate debuted a new handbag at Wimbledon—well, it was new to us anyway. She might have owned it for months! It’s by Anya Hindmarch, the Neeson small square tote in ‘chalk’.

The £950 bag is crafted from Capra leather. Look closely and you’ll find Anya Hindmarch’s signature bow design woven onto the front of the bag. On the side, a handy d-ring is suspended from a leather tab. The tonal chalk coloured handles are adjustable for the perfect fit over your shoulder.
Kate has several Anya Hindmarch handbags in her collection. The Neeson tote joins the Maud clutch in black satin, the Maud clutch in black satin, a woven bag shaped like a fan, a sparkling gold box clutch and a red lizard print clutch.
Anya Hindmarch founded her business in the late 1980s, and it’s since grown into a global brand. The British designer is known for her quirky accessories and playful designs. Anya places sustainability at the heart of her business—something we know Kate aligns herself with in fashion. You might remember the I’m NOT A Plastic Bag campaign from 2007? The project raised awareness of the enormity of single-use plastic going to landfill. This was a bag designed by Anya in collaboration with Antitode and the global social change movement, We Are What We Do (now known as Shift).
After thousands of people queued to purchase the tote from Sainsburys (80,000 on launch day), the project garnered huge press coverage globally, ignited the debate around the use of plastic bags and contributed to the eventual decision to charge for plastic bags in the UK.

Let’s talk jewellery now. Kate bought back her Cartier Trinity earrings. The chic earrings feature three intertwined hoops, combining yellow, rose and white gold. Each metal, according to Selfridges.com, carries a symbolic meaning: rose gold for love, yellow for fidelity and white for friendship. Aww.

Kate debuted the earrings earlier this year, in January, and this is the fourth time we’ve seen her wear them to date. I do wonder if they were a Christmas or birthday gift from Prince William. But I always think that when she debuts a new piece of jewellery in January (her birth month).
The earrings retail for £3,050 at the British department store, Selfridges, where they’re described as “elegantly intertwined.”
Kate has five items from Cartier’s Trinity collection. Three pairs of earrings and two necklaces. Her sapphire and diamond band and stainless steel watch are also from the company. Oh, and let’s not forget her iconic wedding tiara! That was a Cartier gem, too.
Cartier is one of the world’s most prestigious jewellers. Founded in Paris in 1847, the Maison is known for its elegant timepieces and iconic designs—from the Love bracelet to the Panthère motif.
Kate offset her £3,000 earrings with something a little more accessible for most, the £110 ‘Maya’ bangle by Halcyon Days.

It appears that she’s wearing a new version of the bangle, with the ‘diamond’ cabouchons at the end. (The Princess already owns the piece with aquamarine coloured glass cabouchons at the ends.
The bangle is made from 18ct gold-plated brass, and the cabouchons are made from glass.
Interestingly, the Duchess of Edinburgh owns the same bracelet and has worn it regularly since 2022.
The Princess must be a fan of Halcyon Days—she owns four similar designs from the company.
I do wonder if Wimbledon and Halcyon Days have an official partnership? The luxury goods company has a ‘Wimbledon Edit‘ on their website. That might explain why Kate wears the bracelets to the championships often.
Halcyon Days, founded in 1950 as an emporium of antique gifts in Mayfair, London, is now a renowned producer of English fine bone china and premium accessories. The company, which has held a Royal Warrant for over five decades, remains committed to handcrafted quality, making all products in its UK workshops.
We expect Kate will return to Wimbledon tomorrow afternoon to watch the Men’s final between Italian world No. 1, Jannik Sinner, and the Spanish world No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz. It’s thought William will accompany the Princess.
