    Emirates orders 65 additional Boeing aircraft

    Emirates airline has announced an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, at the Dubai Airshow 2025.

    Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline, said the airline has a total of 315 Boeing aircraft on order, including 777-X, freighters and Dreamliners.

    During Dubai Airshow 2023, Emirates ordered 95 wide-body aircraft and committed an additional Boeing 777-9s, 777-8s, and 787s, worth $52 billion, to power its growth plans, maintain a modern efficient fleet, and deliver the best flying experience to its customers.

    Planes as far as the eye can see

    From lifesize models to miniature versions, from posters to aircraft you can walk into, it’s planes as far as the eye can see at Dubai Airshow 2025.

    1.5 hours to go for flying displays

    A hallmark event of the Dubai Airshow every year are the flying displays. The sky above Dubai World Central will see breathtaking aerial performances from 1.30pm to 4.40pm today.

    UAE’s mission to the asteroid belt

    The UAE Space Agency is displaying a detailed demo of its upcoming Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt, scheduled for launch in 2028.

    The model shows how the probe will study seven asteroids between Mars and Jupiter.

    The agency is also showing the demo for the Arab Cooperation Mission’s 813 satellite, set for launch in Q4 2025. The name 813 reflects the year linked to the rise of the House of Wisdom in Baghdad, a symbol of scientific progress in the region.

    UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also arrived at the Dubai Airshow on the first day, where he observed the aircraft on display.

    Starlink on board Emirates flights

    Earlier, Emirates airline said that Starlink WiFi will be available across its entire in-service fleet, beginning with Boeing 777 aircraft in November 2025. The rollout is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

    The service will be free for all Emirates customers, across all cabins on Starlink-equipped aircraft, with one-click access that requires no payment or special Skywards membership.

    Emirates A380 at Dubai Airshow 2025

    The famous Emirates A380 is on display at the show, allowing visitors to enter the grounded aircraft and observe the luxurious interiors and imposing exterior.

    What is the security like at the show?

    The Dubai Police have been fully prepared for the mega-event, starting their preparation weeks in advance.

    A comprehensive plan has been put in place and is being executed by 1,200 security personnel.

    The airshow’s organising committee and partners have been coordinating with the police to make sure the event is secure. The Dubai Events Security Committee has been mobilised and is fully prepared to host the Airshow with world-class security.

    What’s new at Dubai Airshow this year?

    The 19th edition promises visitors bigger and better experiences. The new night experiences will bring the bustling daytime event into the exciting energy of the night. Party on the Runway will take place at SkyDive Dubai today from 8pm to 11pm, and Airshow After Dark will take place tomorrow at the Airshow site from 5.30pm to 9pm.

    Sheikh Mohammed arrives

    Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has arrived at the Dubai Airshow 2025. According to the Dubai Media Office, he is reviewing the latest products, services, and cutting-edge technologies at the event.

    Yesterday, he welcomed delegates to the show, expressing his pride in Dubai and the UAE.

    A multi-vehicular crash happened on Monday morning along Al Maktoum Airport Road that caused delay for motorists and visitors to the event.

    Khaleej Times has seen an overturned van on the side of the road. A couple more damaged cars were also moved to the side.

    Long queues at security

    Visitors are lining up to enter the Dubai Airshow, some on their phones, some talking to colleagues and other people in the queue. The first day of the Airshow has already started with a strong turnout.

    How to get to Dubai World Central

    The organisers have partnered with transport departments to make it easier for visitors and delegates to reach the location in Dubai South.

    Visitors driving to the airshow must park at Al Maktoum Airport and use the shuttle services (operational from 7am to 7pm daily, except for Tuesday, November 18, when it will be available till 9pm). Exhibitors have dedicated parking at the venue.

    Shuttles are also available from the Expo Metro Station. E-hail taxi services are offering a 20 per cent discount to those going to the Dubai Airshow, with a maximum discount of Dh15 for four trips.

    Ready for take-off?

    One of the world’s largest airshows is all set to begin in Dubai! This year’s edition of the Dubai Airshow is set to be the biggest one yet, with over 200 aircraft and next-generation technologies on display. The 19th edition will be held under the theme ‘The Future is Here’ for five days starting today at Dubai World Central (DWC). 

    With more than 1,500 exhibitors, including 440 new participants, 148,000 trade visitors, and 490 military and civil delegations from 115 countries, excitement is in the air as the aviation world — and the curious public — gear up to experience the best and latest in future technologies.

    For the first time ever this year, the event will extend into the night, with live entertainment and a drone show. Also making a debut this year are eVTOL aircraft (flying taxis) — truly bringing Dubai and the world into the future of mobility.
