Entertainment Lab is excited to share in this exclusive interview all of the exciting details:

Meghan Forte:  What inspired the launch of the Digital Department at this time?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager: Earlier this year, I had a sudden spark about the digital/social media field…—right around the same time a few bigger influencers unexpectedly reached out, asking us to represent them. Coincidentally, this year is the first time ever that global digital video ad spend is projected to surpass linear TV ad spend. And in May of this year, digital media—specifically streaming services—surpassed traditional media (broadcast and cable TV) in terms of U.S. viewership share. So the stars have aligned, you could say!

Meghan Forte:  How does the addition of digital talent complement your existing roster of actors, writers, and directors?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager:  A few of our current actors, writers, and directors are already notable content creators/influencers, so as we were adding new digital talent, we also notified our current clients that we’re now able to assist with their digital deals as well. The addition of representation services in the digital world only strengthens us as a company, as we’re becoming even more connected, resourceful, and helpful to our current and future clients.

Additionally, an increasing number of studio and casting executives, as well as independent producers, have started assigning more value to artists with strong social media followings.  So being able to help our clients strengthen their social media footprint can only benefit their careers.

Meghan Forte: How do you envision bridging traditional talent with emerging digital influencers?

I don’t see traditional and digital media as either/or areas. I believe that if an artist can do both and is passionate about both, they should work in both lanes. Just like we’ve seen the lines between TV and movie talent blur over the past decade, the same is happening between traditional and digital media.

Meghan Forte: What qualities do you look for when signing new digital talent?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager :  We look at quite a few parameters—starting with the type of content they produce, number of followers, insights, previous brand partnerships, etc. We also want to work only with kind, respectful artists who are in tune with their creativity and have something meaningful to say.

Meghan Forte: What platforms are you focusing on most right now—TikTok, YouTube, Instagram—or is it a multi-faceted approach?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager: The number of platforms, their popularity, algorithms, etc., change all the time, so we cover all of them and push equally on all fronts. It’s the Wild West out here, so we’re staying nimble, continually learning, and adding new tools to our toolbox!

Meghan Forte:  How do you help creators keep the authenticity of their brands as they grow?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager: We encourage our creators to decline brand partnerships or collaborations that don’t align with their identity or values. If they don’t think they have much to contribute to the brand or that the requested posts wouldn’t turn out well, then it’s better to respectfully pass.

Meghan Forte: As a bicoastal talent and literary management company, what makes services from Entertainment Lab unique?

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager: Many of the social media management companies and agencies stay only in the digital lane and offer only those services while we cover film, TV, commercials, print, VO, theatre, literary and digital so we do feel that we offer “almost” 360-management services to our artists. The reason I say “almost” is because none of us are that great at music so we do not offer music management at this time as part of our services. Our management team is also the best we’ve ever had. It is composed of knowledgeable and good-hearted people who care about their clients and work hard for them.

Want to learn more about the reality behind the world of influencers? Influencer Jenna Hall, represented by Entertainment Lab, also has this to say to Social Lifestyle Magazine:

“I’m very fortunate to have a partner who helps to split the cost of living, otherwise I would need to constantly chase the posts that gain the most views and therefore bring in the most money. Because of that I get to take risks on content that strays from my usual Boy Mom/Rae Dunn/10K BC videos. I have the freedom to try content I find funny but may ultimately flop. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn’t, but I get to take a swing to challenge myself either way. I’m lucky to say thus far in my content creation career I’ve never hit a fork in the road where I’ve had to choose creativity OR business.”

Sean Dubravac, Entertainment Lab Manager: Many social media management companies and agencies stay only in the digital lane and offer only those services, while we cover film, TV, commercials, print, voiceover, theater, literary, and digital—so we feel that we offer “almost” 360-management services to our artists. The reason I say “almost” is because none of us are that great at music, so we don’t offer music management at this time. Our management team is also the best we’ve ever had. It’s comprised of knowledgeable, good-hearted people who genuinely care about their clients and work hard for them.

Entertainment Lab is recognized as being a top tier bicoastal, talent and literary management company. It is proud to serve clients all around the world, and serve both the East and West Coast.
