The Red Cross Society of China will strive to improve the efficiency, standardization and transparency of its work, Chen Zhu, president of the society, said on Friday.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the restoration of China’s lawful seat in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the country’s first official organization to regain recognition as an international group since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

During a symposium in Beijing that celebrated the anniversary, Chen said that the society has played an important role in delivering emergency aid, alleviating poverty, improving the overall health of people and fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years.

Meanwhile, the society has been delivering foreign aid and has gained recognition from the international community.

Chen said that in the future, the society will hold efficient operations and transparency as the lifeline of its development, proactively receive supervision from the public so as to become more productive and enhance social credibility.
