Best Black Friday 2025 carrier phone and plan deals

Black Friday 2025 is upon us, and we’ve been tracking the best deals on phones and plans at Canadian carriers.

So far, early offers were underwhelming (possibly due to decreasing competition, according to telco execs), but we’re hoping carriers saved the best offers for Black Friday proper. We’ve compiled the best deals available so far below, and will update this post throughout the day with new deals as they become available.

Wireless plans

If you’re looking for a deal on wireless service, your best bet will be Freedom Mobile. As of writing, the carrier’s plans hadn’t changed for Black Friday, but its offers are still well ahead of the competition. Freedom’s $39/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan Update: now $39/70GB 5G CAN/US/MEX plan has so much value packed in that it’s hard to beat. And if you need more data, Freedom is offering a $4/mo discount on its other plans for customers who bring their own phone (BYOP) — that means you can get $45/100GB or $55/150GB options, also with 5G and Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming.

For those who live in an area where Freedom Mobile isn’t an option, your next best bet will be Public Mobile. Owned by Telus, it offers service on Telus’ network, which should mean decent service anywhere you’d get service from Telus or Koodo. (For what it’s worth, I’ve been on Public Mobile since the start of the year with no issues in Ontario, but I spend most of my time in the GTA.)

Update Nov. 28, 2025, at 2:34 p.m. ET: Public Mobile has further discounted its 100GB plan to $45/mo. Read more.

Notable Public plans include $40/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico and $50/100GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico. There are cheaper options, but the value isn’t quite as good for those. Fellow Telus-owned brand Koodo also launched a $40/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan, so that’s worth considering too.

Those in the market for a sub-$30 plan should consider a prepaid option. Chatr, Lucky Mobile, and Koodo all have $29/25GB 4G plans — pretty decent for less than $30/mo.

I’ve listed a couple other notable wireless offers below, but I’d only recommend these if none of the above options will work for you:

Smartphones

Looking for a new smartphone? Your best bet for a good deal, honestly, is to buy outright and get a cheap plan (like one of the ones highlighted above). I’ve written before about how to calculate whether a carrier phone deal is actually a deal, but the short version is that you need to figure out whether the cost of financing a phone and the corresponding plan is cheaper than buying the phone outright and getting a plan. In a lot of cases, the latter is usually the better deal, especially during Black Friday when several phones are on sale.

If you must get a phone through a carrier, below are some of the better options we’ve seen.

Other deals

I also want to highlight an offer from Telus that might prove meaningful to some. The Vancouver-based national carrier is offering a ‘Buy One, Give One’ promo where it will give a phone and plan to a Canadian youth in need for each new or pre-owned phone bought during Black Friday. While not exactly a deal, it is a way to turn your purchase into something more.
