“Amnesia in the finale episode?-Dynamite Kiss fans left disappointed as ending introduces memory loss & time slip plots, derailing romance

On December 25, 2025, the final episode of Dynamite Kiss aired, bringing the series to an unexpected and controversial close. The episode introduced a sudden plot twist involving memory loss and a time slip, which left a section of viewers dissatisfied.

In the episode 14, the finale, after resolving issues related to his company, Ji-hyeok, played by Jang Ki-yong, heads out to meet Da-rim, portrayed by Ahn Eun-jin. On his way, he stops to buy flowers for her. While crossing the road to return to his car, Ji-hyeok is hit by a vehicle.

Following the accident, he is rushed to the hospital, where he remains unconscious for an extended period. Upon learning about the incident, Da-rim immediately rushes to the hospital. She stays by Ji-hyeok’s side day and night, caring for him continuously and tending to all his needs.

However, when Ji-hyeok eventually regains consciousness, it is revealed that he has lost all memories from the past few months, including his relationship with Da-rim and the time they spent working together. Doctors confirm that Ji-hyeok is suffering from amnesia.

His recollection stops before he ever meets Da-rim in Jeju. The last thing he clearly remembers is preparing to leave for Jeju Island, before meeting her.

He fails to recognize her and asks who she is, a moment that deeply affects her. Over the course of the following year, Ji-hyeok experiences only fragmented memories involving Da-rim but can not fully remember anything.

This late-stage twist, introduced in the final episode, sparked criticism from viewers who felt it was unnecessary and disrupted the emotional payoff of the romance. Soon after the episode aired, fans took to social media to share their reactions. One viewer of Dynamite Kiss commented,

“Amnesia in the finale episode?? I have to laugh because what else is left at this point. (childhood connection cough cough).”

The ending has since remained a point of debate among Dynamite Kiss viewers, with many expressing disappointment over the choice to conclude the series with memory loss and time slip elements. Several viewers described the amnesia and time-slip twist as a dated trope, calling it a “2009-style” plot device that felt outdated and unnecessary for the story.

doing breakup, accident and subsequent memory loss in the last episode btw, just diabolical as hell

Breakup, accident, memory loss and patchup all in on episode wtf 😭 completely degraded the storyline. Sounds like 2009 kdrama plotline. Romcom was rom-coming though i will give it that

Viewers continued to share their dissatisfaction to the drama’s narrative style, with many placing the blame on the writer. A section of the audience also expressed that the Dynamite Kiss managed to hold interest of audience largely because of the lead pair’s chemistry and performances, rather than its writing.

Dynamite Kiss really went from romcom of the year to the worst mess of the year 😭 the writers lost the plot trying to squeeze in every romcom cliché from the 2000s 💀

At least the very end of the episode save because that whole memory loss plot was so unnecessary; in the end, they both had to be happy and organizing Darim’s wedding with Jihyeok; At least Jihyeok remember all the moments with Darim. 🥹🤍 #DynamiteKiss #DynamiteKissEp14

mind you, if they’d just finished the subplots in the first 15 minutes,we could’ve had a proposal scene,a real wedding, post marriage life, and more time with the kids. But no instead we had accident, amnesia,a time slip etc. #DynamiteKiss #DynamiteKissEp14

I’m sorry, but the writer really wasted Kiyong & Eunjin’s chemistry in the final eps. The memory loss plot felt unnecessary. They have such good chemistry — I really hope they reunite in another project with a better script #DynamiteKiss #DynamiteKissEp14

Dynamite Kiss finale brings closure as Ji-hyeok regains memory and reunites with Da-rim

Towards the final moments of the episode 14 of Dynamite Kiss, the narrative shifts as Ji-hyeok eventually regains his memories of Da-rim. One year after the accident, Da-rim travels to Jeju Island after learning that her sister is there to bring her back home.

To enter the venue and to blend in with the other invitees, Da-rim wears the same outfit that Ji-hyeok has bought for her for that occasion. While searching for her sister inside the banquet hall, Da-rim unexpectedly runs into Ji-hyeok.

He immediately suspects that she is there to follow him and confronts her. Da-rim denies the accusation, explaining that she is there for a different reason. Although Ji-hyeok remains unconvinced, seeing her in the familiar outfit triggers fragments of past memories along witu a sudden headache.

As the pain intensifies, fragments of his past begin to surface, including memories of them dancing together at the banquet and later kissing in the exact spot where they are now standing. Da-rim notices his discomfort and expresses concern, but Ji-hyeok tells her that she is the reason for his headache.

She apologizes and assuring him she is not there for him, she turns to leave. Moments later, however, she accidentally bumping into another person, loses her balance, and falls on Ji-hyeok. The mishap results in an unintentional kiss.

That kiss becomes the turning point and instantly Ji-hyeok’s memories return completely. Fully remembering everything they shared, he asks Da-rim for another kiss, just like he has made the same request after their first kiss in the past.

Dynamite Kiss then concludes with a time jump of several years, showing the couple married with two children, a daughter and a son and living a happy life together while Da-rim runs her own company along with Ji-hyeok and their entireTF team.
