Getting to Paxos is quite straight forward, but only when you know how. That’s why I’ve put together this guide from my own experience to help you save time researching all the details.
Paxos is the smallest Greek island in the Ionian Sea, just a short distance from Corfu. It’s home to sublime sapphire waters and verdant olive groves, making it an ideal destination to explore from Corfu. I’ll cover all the details of how to get the ferry, how much it costs and what the trip is actually like.

Distance from Corfu to Paxos
Paxos is so close to Corfu that it feels like it would be rude not to visit if you’re travelling to Corfu. At a distance of only seven nautical miles apart (and only thirty nautical miles, or 56 km, from Corfu Town), you can arrive in Corfu in the morning and be in Paxos for a delicious authentic Greek meal by the afternoon.

How long is the ferry Corfu to Paxos?
The journey time is quick on the hydrofoils which go to Paxos, at around one hour.
On the slower ferries, the trip from Corfu to Paxos can take from 3.5 hours and you’ll have to change ferries in Igoumenitsa.
The best way to book tickets for the ferry from Corfu to Paxos is to use ferryhopper.com.
I’ve used their website and it’s so handy to be able to see all the ferry companies for the route at the same time and compare prices in one place.
Don’t leave it until the day to buy your ticket for the ferry to Paxos from Corfu, as it’s a popular route and can sell out, particularly in the peak summer months (June to September).
If you do need to leave buying a ticket until you’re in Corfu, you can check if there are any tickets left at the ticket offices opposite the harbour, on the corner of Ioannou Theotoki street and the roundabout.
What ferry companies go from Corfu to Paxos?
There are four main ferry operators which sail from Corfu to Paxos. They are:
Κerkyra Lines
I sailed with them to Paxos via hydrofoil. The journey was smooth, quick and easy.
Joy Cruises
I had my original ticket booked with them but the ferry was cancelled late on and communication was not good in my own personal experience.
However, I ended up making the return trip with them. The boat seemed older than the outward journey but it got me from A to B without any problems.
Lefkada Palace
Runs ferry trips tp Paxos from Corfu, which typically take longer than the hydrofoils.
Kamelia Lines
This company is different from the others, as boats leave from Lefkimmi port in the south of Corfu.
Corfu to Paxos ferry routes
There are three main ferry routes for getting to Paxos from Corfu:
- Corfu Town to Paxos direct.
- Corfu Town to Igoumenitsa then on to Paxos.
- South Corfu (Lefkimmi) to Paxos direct.
Compare ferry times and prices on ferryhopper.com. Don’t leave booking your ferry ticket until the day, as they can sell out in summer. Paxos is written as ‘Paxi’ on the site.
Corfu to Paxos ferry timetable 2025
During March to October there are daily crossings from Corfu to Paxos. With routes increasing in frequency during summer.

Corfu to Paxos ferry price
Tickets cost from €35 per person for a single ticket on the hydrofoil boats.
There is also the car ferry route from Corfu to Paxos via Igoumenitsa. It takes a lot longer, with a journey time from 3.5 hours, but is ideal if you’re looking for the cheapest way to get from Corfu to Paxos, as it only costs from €15 for a single ticket.
Pro Tip: Paxos is also written as Paxi or Paxoi on ferry timetables.
Taxi boat
For a few hundred euros you can book a private taxi boat over to Paxos from Corfu. This may seem expensive but if there’s a group of you it works out as quite reasonable and might mean you avoid spending a night hanging around in Corfu. You’ll need to book in advance as services are limited.
Can you do a Corfu to Paxos day trip?
I stayed on Paxos so that I could enjoy all the lovely Paxos beaches. I also took the boat over and stayed on Antipaxos. However, If you haven’t got the time to spare, you can take a day trip to explore both islands in one day.
Booking a Paxos day trip from Corfu is a convenient way to get a taste of the island and to have all your travel needs taken care of. It also means you’ll have more time on Corfu to visit places like the quirky Danilia Village.
The price is often the same as the cost of a single ticket on the ferry so this is a good value option. Here is the top rated day trip that takes you to some of my favourite sights on Paxos and Antipaxos:

Arrival port on Paxos
Arriving into Paxos by ferry or hydrofoil means you’ll be arriving a Gaios New Port. The scene as you get off the boat is beautifully calming, with an inlet surrounded by the green trees of the island of Panagia.
The new port is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Gaios. I’ve walked it twice with suitcases and, if you’re physically able to, it’s an easy, flat walk, following the water’s edge all the way.
If you’re not able to walk, check if your accommodation has a pickup service, or ask at the port for the taxi numbers. There are only 5 taxi drivers on Paxos, so you may have to wait. There is no shuttle bus from the port to the centre of Gaios.
Where is Corfu ferry terminal?
The new port in Corfu Town is where the ferries to Paxos depart from. The ferry terminal is also known as Kerkira Port or the Domestic Terminal. Google ‘Sette Venti café’ in Corfu Town and you should see that it’s directly in front of the ferry terminal.
The #15 bus goes from the airport to Corfu Town. Journey time is around ten minutes. It will either continue on to the port, or will terminate at the San Rocco bus terminus in the centre.
From San Rocco bus terminus, it’s a ten-minute walk to the port. Although it’s only ten minutes, the pavement is bumpy and the heat and humidity in Corfu on my visits made if feel significantly longer.
Tickets from the airport to Corfu Town cost from €1.20 per person for a single ticket. It costs more to pay on the bus than if you buy bus tickets in advance from one of the kiosks or machines.
You can pay in cash or card on the bus. Visit the KTEL website for up-to-date bus times.
There is also a bus station in Corfu Town called the Green bus terminal. The distance from there to the ferry terminal is a lot further. It would take around 25 minutes to walk.
You can also take a taxi from outside the airport and go straight to the ferry terminal. Taxis cost around €20 – €25.
Facilities at Corfu ferry terminal
The ferry port at Corfu has some useful facilities. There is the Sette Venti café, where you can get refreshments.
Opposite the port there are are ticket offices for the different ferry companies and a bus stop.
There is also a left luggage facility at the port, follow the signs.
What is the ferry journey from Corfu to Paxos like?
It was very hot at the front of the boat on both my trips, the aircon didn’t seem to work and I melted into my plastic seat the whole way.
There are proper toilets on the hydrofoil boats.
Although there were signs for a café facility on my boat with Κerkyra Lines, there wasn’t actually one operating. However, there was a free water fountain.
The Corfu to Paxos ferry passes by Corfu old fort on the way out, offering great views of the old lighthouse (seats are all inside the boat). After that you can view the Corfu coastline as it fades in to the mist and you’re in Paxos before you know it.
Luggage
You can take luggage on board the hydrofoils. There are a couple of steps up to get onto the boat so there are staff on hand to help.
I took both small hand luggage size bags and a large suitcase and all were fine to take onboard.
There is an official luggage storage area but passengers also put their cases at the back of the seats when that got full.
Can you take a car on the ferry to Paxos?
The smaller and fast hydrofoil boats are for foot passengers only. However, you can take a car from Cofu to Paxos if you travel on the bigger ferry boat that stops in Igoumenitsa.

It’s not required to have a return ticket to travel to Paxos from Corfu. So if your plans are flexible you can decide what day you want to come back once you get there (although don’t leave it too late to book tickets during summer, as the specific ferry you want to book might sell out on the day).
