31 March Journal Prompts for Emotional Health (When You Feel “Too Much”)

There are seasons when your emotions feel louder than usual – heavier, sharper, quicker to rise. Seasons when you wonder if you’re “too much,” too sensitive, too emotional, too complicated, or too intense.

Maybe someone told you that once.

    Maybe many people did.

Maybe life taught you to shrink, soften, or silence parts of yourself just to make things easier for everyone else.

    But emotional depth isn’t a flaw. It’s a gift.

And emotional awareness isn’t weakness. It’s wisdom.

Scripture shows again and again that God meets people in the full range of their emotions: joy, grief, fear, longing, confusion, hope.

Emotions are not dictators, but they are communicators. They tell the truth about your experience, even when they don’t tell the whole truth about reality.

This month is an invitation to gently peel back the layers – to notice what your emotions are saying, to explore where the “too much” messages came from, and to let God’s voice speak something truer, kinder, and steadier over your heart.

You are not too much for Him. You never have been.

And as you learn to sit with your emotions instead of fixing or dismissing them, you may find that they become places where God meets you with compassion and clarity.

    A Blessing for March

May this month be a gentle unraveling of the stories that told you you were “too much.”

May you learn to see your emotions not as threats or flaws,
but as invitations — tender signals of what your heart is carrying, longing for, or protecting.

May you grow in compassionate curiosity toward your inner world,
trusting that God is not intimidated by your intensity, your tears, your joy, your fear,
or the full depth of what you feel.

And may you discover that in every emotion — heavy, bright, tangled, or tender —
God is already there, ready to meet you with mercy, truth, and a love that never calls you too much.
