Live: Khawaja falls to Hope’s stunner in day-night Test against West Indies

Live: West Indies vs Australia day-night Test in Kingston

    37th over: Greaves goes again

Hope is once again up to the stumps as Smith is on the back foot and defending.

Smashed! Short and wide from Greaves and Smith isn’t missing out on this one. He’s cutting it through point for a boundary.

More runs! Back-to-back boundaries! Greaves overcorrects and Smith is able to exuberantly flash him forward of square for another four.

Again! A lovely drive this time! Smith steps forward to a full one and it’s through point in a flash. That’s a hat-trick of fours.

Hope makes his way to a more orthodox wicketkeeping position for the final couple balls, which are both dots.

    That’s drinks.

36th over: We’ll see some more spin

Jomel Warrican is set to bowl just his second over of the day.

Cam Green works the left-arm finger spinner down the ground for a single.

Smith rotates the strike through the on-side.

Edge! Green is pushing one outside off stump and getting a thick edge of it. There’re a few disappointed grunts from the infield as it falls well short of slip.

    35th over: Greaves to Green

Green is stepping forward and driving into the off-side. No run.

Then, he’s driving into extra cover for a single.

Greaves gets a go at Smith, who’s leaving a wide one to begin.

    “Agh!”

Smith isn’t happy with himself. Greaves throws down a pretty inviting half-volley which Smith nails. However, it’s straight to fielder and it’s no run.

Shai Hope comes up to the stumps for the final ball of the over, which Smith does well to work for a couple.

    34th over: Shamar to Smudge

    S. Joseph does well to extract some bounce off a length and Smith is leaving and then watching as it thuds into Shai Hope’s gloves.

Off the mark! Smith manages to work one through a pretty packed on-side infield and the batters come back for a couple.

Short leg, mid-wicket and another man in close on the leg-side for Smith.

Shot! Short from Shamar and Smith doesn’t hesitate to crunch him in front of square for four.

33rd over: Golden arm Greaves re-enters the attack

He struck with the opening ball of his first spell, but he can’t repeat the dose in his second. Green is leaving on length.

He’s then in and behind one.

Green cops another one on the body after a delivery rears up and seams back from outside off.

Good shot! Green guides one through point and it just about makes it to the rope. Jomel Warrican is diving on the boundary but to no avail.

    Green moves into the 20s.

    That’s over.

32nd over continued: Smith to the middle

Australia’s number four has three to negotiate.

And he’s getting bat on ball straight away, working one to midwicket for no-run.

That one’s pretty wild down leg from Shamar and Smith is trying to work it find fine but getting no bat on it.

Mix-up! Smith drops one into the off-side, sets off for a run, Green bellows “no!” and Smith does a 180 in the middle of the track.

However, the shy at the stumps is horrific and Smith probably back in time anyway.

It’s a no ball and Smith is defending the extra one to end the over.

    KHAWAJA IS GONE!

Usman Khawaja’s watchful, painstaking innings comes to an end on 23 from 92 deliveries.

Khawaja is playing at a wide from Shamar and getting a thick edge on it. For a moment, it looks like falling between keeper and first slip, but Shai Hope takes an absolutely brilliant catch to pouch it low down to his left.

32nd over: S. Joseph gets another

Green is getting in a bit of a muddle but manages to get a leg-bye into the on-side.

Khawaja works a couple in front of square.

    31st over: Alzarri to Khawaja

The right arm fast bowler is coming over the wicket to the left-handed Khawaja.

The West Indies are clearly wanting to use that angle to find the pads of Khawaja, who has been dismissed LBW in his last two innings.

But Khawaja is up to the challenge, this time anyway. He works one off his pads for a couple.

Khawaja is defending one outside off this time.

A dot to finish things off.

    30th over: Shamar to continue

Khawaja is pushing one into cover for a single.

Green is once again leaving on height. It proves a good call, with the ball jagging back and sailing over the stumps.

This one is down leg and Green misses out.

Shadows beginning to lengthen out there in Kingston as Green leaves another one alone.

Shot! Green makes the most of another full one, stepping forward and driving through mid-off for his second boundary in as many overs.

29 overs: A. Joseph gets another

Green shapes to play at one back of a length on a fifth stump line but thinks better of it and pulls his bat away.

Runs! Green manages to squeeze one out through point and the batters come back for a couple.

Really slow going out there after tea. The run rate is still below two.

Shot of the day! Wonderful from Cam Green. Joseph pitches one up and Green is looking wonderful as he steps forward and creams it through mid-off for four.

Good response! Back of a length from Joseph, and it rears up and catches Green on the glove. The ball is on the ground before it reaches the slip cordon.

Green is driving into the off-side to end the over.

    28th over: Shamar to Khawaja

    S. Joseph is coming around the wicket to Khawaja, and he’s using that angle to make sure the 38-year-old is playing at the first couple for no runs.

That one is slightly too straight and Khawaja misses out on an opportunity to work one off the hip.

Khawaja is defending a full one to end a maiden over.

27th over: Josephs from both ends

Alzarri gets the ball from the other end.

The right arm seamer is coming over the wicket to the right-handed Green.

Green is trying to push one out into the off-side but not getting enough of it to earn a single.

He’s then leaving outside off stump.

Massive movement! This one jags back a mile. Green is shouldering arms, leaving it on length. The ball hits the pitch and comes back from outside off to hit Green’s hip.

Green misses out on a full toss that he drives straight to mid-off.

Cut in half! A really good one to end the over. Green is coming forward and defending one that passes his outside edge in a flash.

26th over: S. Joseph opens up after tea

He has excellent figures so far – 0/5 from seven overs.

However, a lot of his balls – especially in his first spell – didn’t really trouble the batters and were too wide.

Khawaja is working one off his toes and the batters run a couple to begin the session.

Shout! Shamar tries one of the old celebration-appeals, running forward with arms outstretched in his follow through, but there’s not much to like about that one. Too high and too wide and no-one else is really interested. Not out.

    That’s over.

    Class from Kraigg Brathwaite

Kraigg Brathwaite had just been dropped after his 100th Test, but the former skipper still presented the cap to 24-year-old debutant Kevlon Anderson.

    TEA: Australia 1-50 (Khawaja 16, Green 6)

Jayden Seales appeals for Cameron Green's wicket.
    (AP)

Yes, it’s tea time as this is a day-nighter, so we’ll have the shorter, 20-minute break now, with Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green just making it to the break.

I’d say that session is about even on the scoreboard, but West Indies bowlers are looking tidy with this pink ball on a bit of a greentop.

Usman Khawaja did well to make it through despite a few plays and misses, and Cameron Green got his dismissal overturned on review while Sam Konstas wasn’t so lucky.

Before play, we saw Nathan Lyon dropped from the Australian XI for the first time since 2013.

25th over – Spin to finish the session

Jomel Warrican will get one over before the break.

A little scratchy from Green as this new ball skids on and rushes him.

WHOA! Green tries to slog sweep him out of the ground and only toe-ends it to mid-on. Massive swing of the bat.

24th over – Shamar Joseph gets one over before lunch

This will likely be the second last over before the break, assuming no delays.

BEATEN. Great start, angling in from around the wicket and straightening to beat the outside edge of Usman Khawaja.

Squared up and an edge squirts out behind point.

This is a great over from Joseph. He’s all over Khawaja. One ball to come.

BEATEN AGAIN! Another superb ball goes in and away to beat the outside edge and somehow miss off stump.

Joseph throws his head back in anguish.

23rd over – Greaves to Khawaja

He’s still coming over the wicket and challenging Khawaja’s outside edge.

Greaves tries around the wicket, but Khawaja is able to use the angle to clip a single off his toes.

Just the one run from the over. Greaves has 1-9 from four overs.
