The new Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x (or Airwrap2x for short) has just been unveiled and it’s already looking like one of the most exciting hair tool launches of 2025. If you thought Dyson couldn’t improve on the iconic Airwrap, think again. This next-generation multi-styler comes with double the air pressure, a brand-new ultra-powerful motor, and smart technology that personalises your styling, all while promising zero heat damage. I cannot wait!

What is Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x?

The brand new version of the Dyson Airwrap for 2025 is smaller and lighter than the original and promises 2x the air pressure, with a new motor that delivers better curling, faster drying and even straighter styles.

Dyson has developed smarter, advanced technology for superior styling, with no heat damage and it is suitable for all hair types.

What’s New With the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x?

There’s quite a lot of newness going on with the Airwrap2x so buckle up!

New Hyperdymium 2 motor

This latest upgrade is built around the new Hyperdymium 2 motor, which spins at an incredible 150,000rpm (that’s nine times faster than a Formula 1 car engine!!) and delivers two times the air pressure of the original Airwrap.

The wire that powers the motor is as fine as a human hair and demonstrates Dyson’s expertise in precision engineering and their ability to miniaturise powerful technology so that it can be easily handheld.

What should that mean for us?

• Smoother, straighter finishes
• Increased styling power without extreme heat

It is basically like a supercharged version of the Airwrap that comes packaged in a smaller, lighter, easier-to-handle design. It has stronger Coanda airflow for better hair wrapping and curling power, and can create straighter styles. Amazing!

New Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled attachments – Smart Sensor Technology

Each styling tool has a chip that tells the device exactly how to adjust airflow and heat automatically, so you never need to guess the best settings.

i.d. curl Technology

This is will provide personalised curling routine at the touch of a button. All you will have to do when using the Airwrap2x curling barrels is connect to the MyDyson app, input your hair type, and the tool will create a tailored curl sequence that includes “wrap, set, release” at the ideal heat and airflow rate for your hair. I think this sounds absolutely amazing!

Real-Time Heat Control

The Dyson Airwrap2x brings us intelligent heat control and is able to measure air temperature 1000 times per second and keep it stable to ensure that styling does not cause heat damage. 

9 NEW Intelligent styling attachments 

There are nine styling attachments specifically engineered for the Dyson Airwrap2x. In the UK, there will be a Straight+Wavy set and a Curly+Coily set available and each set will come with six attachments in a presentation case.

There will also be extra standalone attachments available to purchase.

Straight+Wavy set

This set includes:

Co-anda2x curling barrels:

• 20mm: Tight curls in both directions with one barrel.
• 30mm: Voluminous curls and waves both directions with one barrel.
• 40mm: Loose curls and waves both directions with one barrel.

Anti-snag loop brush 2x:

This one is all about patented loop bristles that glide through the hair without tugging and ensuring scalp comfort. Also, the clever new hook bristles along the edge mean the outer row grabs hair closer to the root for more control and a more polished finish. This sounds really impressive.

Round volumising brush 2x:

This one is designed to create a voluminous style with less frizz as it will allow you to style a section without disturbing surrounding hair.

AirSmooth2x attachment:

This is a finishing attachment designed for straightened styles. It uses non-heated contact bars that smooth, align and reduce volume, while two jets of high velocity air deliver the tension to straighten. When a full pass is completed, the arms automatically unclamp to release hair.

Fast dryer 2x:

You can use this to completely dry the hair, or as a pre-step for further styling.

Tension comb 2x:

This one is for curly and coily hair and delivers high-velocity airflow to dry the hair fast, while stretching and smoothing it. There are additional side bristles increase tension for a straighter finish.

Wave+Curl diffuser 2x:

Two-in-one format diffuser disperses airflow in two different ways to enhance natural curl patterns.

Hair Health A Priority

Dyson’s whole ethos is about styling without compromise, and this update doubles down on protecting your hair health. Features like the non-heated contact bars, scalp-friendly loop bristles, and pressure sensors that alert you when it’s time to clean the filter make the Dyson Airwrap2x not just powerful but smartly designed to care for your hair.

Last year they launched their own styling products, including the new Chitosan formulations, to support the styles you create. These have been developed from mushroom-derived polymers and are designed to work with Dyson tools to extend style longevity and shine. Review of Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x / Airwrap2x

Now, full disclosure: I haven’t got my hands on it yet, but I’m planning to try it thoroughly to test its performance ahead of the official September launch. So consider this your first look preview, with a full review coming soon!

I’ll be looking at how it compares to the original Airwrap, how it handles different styles, and whether that 2x power really delivers in real-life daily use.
