Like everyone, May was an absolute blur. Some of the craziness was end-of-school-year related, but for me, most of the craziness was work and health-related.

    WORK

The biggest thing that happened in May was that Hannah had her baby!!!! It was kind of wild the way that it happened – we were having a meeting that morning, she went to her weekly check-up and then about an hour later, she told us she was headed to the hospital! So while we had been planning for her maternity leave for a while and she’d trained Salem on nearly everything, it was still kind of a shock! I texted Salem later that day and asked who was in charge because it certainly wasn’t me lol. Salem and I both felt SO weird without Hannah!!

But Hannah is so insanely organized and has been the world’s best employee that it’s been nearly seamless since she went out. Salem had the fire hose turned on her before she expected and has been CRUSHING it. I’m beyond lucky to have such wonderful employees who work hard, whom I trust completely. I don’t take that for granted because hiring and finding the right people is one the hardest parts of running a business.

We had a TON of campaigns in May, some big, some small but with some of my favorite brands to date (and multiple involving Tommy, which was fun!) Here’s a few that went live last month.

As always, thank you so much for shopping with my links – it supports my business, my team and also helps me get more future partnerships since they evaluate performance based on clicks and purchases from my links! Based on the data, it looks like y’all loved the best white leather sneakers ever.

And then, on non-sponsored stuff, we got a lot of fun — and hopefully helpful — content up on the blog! Here are some of my favorite posts.

    HEALTH

The biggest event in May was an unexpected twist in the whole breast pain saga. I had one in-office biopsy that came back normal, and was referred for as second, more invasive biopsoy of the lymph nodes. When I got the appointment, it was a much bigger deal than I anticipated. They planned to place a small marker in my skin that would stay there permanently, and I wouldn’t be able to lift Charles for three days. It all felt overwhelming. But when the time came and they started scanning for the concerning lymph nodes, they couldn’t find anything abnormal. Three different techs and two doctors reviewed it, and even the original tech who found the abnormal nodes couldn’t locate them. Miraculously, it seems like everything is fine.

I’m still dealing with pain, but I feel even more confident that it’s all muscular. I’m still getting dry needling every 1-2 weeks, pelvic floor PT once a month, and I added in the chiropractor. Between the three of them, they’ve identified that the areas around my ribs on the right side are incredibly tight and locked up, so they’re working through that (which is honestly very uncomfortable, but it’s helping, so I’m sticking with it). It’s just crazy that I’ve been dealing with this pain for over six months.

Running didn’t feel very good for my body in May, which was a bummer after a great month of running in April but I’m enjoying lifting and pilates so it’s okay.

    LIFE

May was also crazy because Bree (our nanny of four years) started nursing school so her schedule changed pretty dramatically. And it’ll change again every 5 weeks for the next few months. We’re trying to piece together childcare around her schedule because we love her so much and want her to still be able to work for us as much as possible. But combine childcare changes with Hannah going out on maternity leave and it’s just felt like a LOT at once. And I feel constantly behind on work. But, thankfully, I’m able to do a lot of work in the early mornings and from my phone.

Charles also decided to have a sleep regression and was waking up every 60-90 minutes every night in May so on top of being stressed, I was just EXHAUSTED. I finally decided to transition him to one nap (instead of two) and that has helped a LOT. I am SO thankful for Molly from Sleep Shore (once again!). Having a sleep consultant on call for transitions is the best gift to myself (I signed up for text support with both boys after I hired her for 1:1 consultations in the infant days).

Other stuff that’s on my mind is trying to plan logistics for my family’s annual campout in Utah. (I mentioned it last month and still haven’t booked it.) Once again, the campout is 2.5 hours from the SLC airport, so I have to fly across the country, then rent a car, car seats, a crib, load it all up and drive 2.5 hours after landing to Bear Lake. And then do it all the way again on the way back, which would mean leaving Bear Lake at 5:30am to make a flight OR getting back to East Coast at 11pm.

Last year it was definitely worth it (but it was a longer trip and we stayed in SLC a couple of nights before flying out)… so I might do that again or just go a different week entirely. It’s really the 2.5-hour drive that makes things SO hard before and after flying cross-country. Tommy has a golf trip on the same dates, so he can’t come, but I’m pretty sure Bree will be able to come. (Otherwise, there is no way I’d brave it alone haha.) It’s just hard to figure out flights with very early morning and very late nights and time zones and alllll the things. But I need to decide soon because very few Airbnb rentals are left.

Now that the weather is nicer in Boone, we’ll spend a lot more time up here, and we’re trying to figure out how to spend longer stretches, especially since our childcare in Winston is spotty. Winston is nice because there are camps for Thomas half-day, but Boone is nice because there are grandparents—ha! And if I’m not going to be able to work, it just feels easier (and more enjoyable) to parent in the mountains.

Alright, I’ll wrap this up! Thank you for being here, for following along and allowing me to have the career that I do. I absolutely LOVE my work and truly, I wouldn’t get to do this without you.
