One of my favorite outfit hacks for looking put together while feeling comfortable is a skort: the functionality and comfort of shorts with the look of a polished skirt. Skorts are some of my most-worn pieces—comfortable, flattering, and perfect for everything from errands and travel days to casual lunches and long walks.
Let’s be real– they just make life easier. You get the breezy look of a skirt but with hidden shorts underneath, so you don’t have to stress about movement or modesty. Whether I’m chasing my kids or heading to lunch, I don’t have to overthink it—and I like that. If you’re looking for one that actually fits well and works for your lifestyle, here are 10 of the best women’s skorts I’ve found—plus the 3 I wear on repeat.

Cute Skorts for Every Activity
From Work to Play
A skort that looks extremely polished but feels like loungewear? Yes, please. The A. Putnam C’est Tout Skort is stretchy, structured, and doesn’t wrinkle—perfect for work meetings, preschool drop-off, or both in the same day (the perfect casual mom outfit). I style mine with a neutral top, but wearing navy on navy looks chic too–especially this Crochet Sleeveless Top. I love A. Putnam’s clothes since they’re designed for the golf course (which makes them super functional), but they’re cute enough to wear anywhere else as well. I actually wear my favorite golf clothes as athleisure outfits pretty often!
I’d stick to a simple white shoe like woven Mary Jane flats or these Cariuma sneakers for this outfit since the skirt is so classy! And if not the Cariuma sneakers, one of these white sneakers. Throw a cute mom-purse over your shoulder and you’re good to go!
For Hiking
When I’m hiking or just spending a lot of time outside (we have a vacation home in Boone and all of my family lives in Utah, so I spend a decent amount of time hiking in the mountains), I want a skort that’s breathable, quick-drying, and can handle sweat and movement. The best option for this is the Navy Performance Tech Skort from Quince. It’s long enough that I don’t have to worry about it blowing up (even though there are shorts underneath), and it has pockets, which I appreciate on a hiking trail since I like to carry a few things with me. Quince has become a favorite retailer of mine recently. I’d pair this skort with a fitted tee like this Ultraflex Cotton Basic Tee from NEIWAI (my NEIWAI favorites here), or a looser tee like this Zella New Take Crewneck T-Shirt. Since you’ll be hiking, stick to sneakers with good tread like these fun Solomon hiking shoes.
This one would be perfect for travel, too—especially if you’re planning an active trip like the ones I styled in these European summer outfit ideas.
Mini Skort (To Show Off Your Legs!)
A mini skort is a great way to feel cute without worrying about coverage. There are a few ways to go with this, but as a 40-year-old mom to two littles, the only mini skorts I’m wearing are for athleisure. My favorite is the CRZ Atheltic “skortsie” shorts. This has a flattering, wide waistband and little hidden zip pockets to store a key, an AirPods case, or a credit card. I wear these for athleisure outfits or even to work out. Since this skirt is so short, I like to wear a more relaxed tee with it to balance the proportions. This Zella New Take Crewneck T-Shirt is my go-to. I wear all sorts of sneakers with this outfit – mainly New Balance 327s or New Balance 530s.
Linen Skort
Linen skorts are my go-to for hot, sticky weather when I want to look super polished. The J.Crew Sailor Skort in stretch linen blend is adorable with the gold buttons. It looks more dressy than some of the other skorts in this roundup, which makes it an excellent option for a girls’ dinner or date night (more date night ideas in this dress roundup). While the 3.5″ inseam is on the shorter side for what I usually buy, knowing it has shorts underneath makes the length totally fine.
When it comes to styling this skort, I’d likely opt for a uniquely shaped fitted tank top so I can tuck it into the waistband and a pair of my favorite neutral sandals.
Denim Skort
Denim skorts give you that classic, casual mom vibe with a little more comfort and coverage. My current favorite is the Denim Mini Skort in Light Wash Indigo from LOFT. I like that you can see the shorts layer peaking through the side of the front panel. The buckle closure is also a fun, edgy touch.
You can go a million different ways in terms of styling when it comes to denim skirts. Stick to a white tee like this cute scalloped hem baby tee from Splendid and fun sneakers (maybe these powder pink sneakers since pastels are trending in 2025?) for a simple casual spring outfit, or dress the skirt up with a printed top, these cool Ava kitten heels, and a simple woven clutch for night out.
Athletic Skort
When I know I’ll be moving—whether it’s a walk, workout, or a long day with the kids—the Lululemon Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt in the long length is the skort I reach for. It’s breathable, supportive, and looks great styled casually too. Pair it with a high neck tank and cute sporty sneakers like this City pair from HOFF. It’s a staple in the athleisure outfits I wear on repeat.
For Golfers
Even if you’re just there for the cart snacks, a great golf skort is worth having. The A. Putnam Pocket Skort is sleek, flattering, and made with knit fabric that keeps you comfortable all day (it’s also stain-resistant). This pairs beautifully with any of the pieces I included in my roundup of cute women’s golf clothes that are actually flattering or my outfit ideas for The Masters.
Best Budget Skort
If you’re just dipping your toes into skorts (or want a few on rotation), the Pleated Golf Skort from Amazon is a great place to start. It’s under $30, comes in tons of colors, and looks way more expensive than it is. It’s also one of my favorite Amazon athleisure picks for affordable style. You could style this a million different ways, but I usually stick to a relaxed tee like the this Zella New Take Crewneck T-Shirt and a pair of casual white sneakers like New Balance 327s.
Compression Skort
If you want something supportive and smoothing, the SPANX Skort with Mid-Tummy Compression is the way to go. It has a pair of seam-free shorts underneath that are made for compression and waist shaping. This skort also has a hidden side pocket for your key, credit card, or AirPods case.
Tennis-Core Favorite (Pleated Skort)
Tennis-core is one of the major fashion trends in 2025, and I’m not mad about it. The Tuckernuck White Cane 15 Inch Williams Tennis Skirt is such a fun skort to add to your wardrobe. The outer layer is perforated so you can see the shorts underneath. Even if you’re not a tennis gal, this would be a cute option for walks with friends.
My Top 3 Skorts
These are the three I wear the most and recommend over and over:
- A. Putnam C’est Tout Skort – Extremely polished and still comfortable. The perfect length!
- Lululemon Pace Rival Skort – The perfect athletic skirt for all activities.
- The J.Crew Sailor Skort – An elevated option for date night or a girls’ dinner.
What Do You Wear With Skorts?
Here are a few ways I style mine:
- With a tee and sneakers for everyday errands or athleisure
- With a cropped sweater and sandals for a casual brunch (I wear one of the more polished skirts for this look).
- With a tank and visor for sporty events (another cute athleisure or true golf/tennis outfit)
- With a button-down and flats for travel or city days
