Bianca Pagdanganan fires 72 to stay in medal hunt at Paris Olympics

Bianca Pagdanganan gunned down all of her three birdies on the back nine on Wednesday to rescue a level-par 72 and stay in the hunt for a medal in the womenās golf competition of the 2024 Paris Olympics at Le Golf National.
The long-hitting Pagdanganan got on the par-5 18th green in two and two-putted for a birdie that sealed a 39-33, her two other birdies coming at Nos. 12 and 15 as she signed for her card trailing home bet Celine Boutier by six shots. FULL STORY

Eumir Marcial lifts up EJ Obiena after medal miss in Paris Olympics

MANILA, PhilippinesāFrom one two-time Filipino Olympian to another, Eumir Marcial gave EJ Obiena some words of encouragement after the pole vaulter narrowly missed a medal at theĀ Paris Olympics 2024Ā on Tuesday.
Like Obiena, Marcial was also among the Philippinesā top medal bets and he too failed to make the podium in the menās boxing 80kg.

MANILA, PhilippinesāTokyo Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo arrived in Paris, France on Wednesday (Manila time) ahead of Team Philippines’ weightlifting campaign in the Paris Olympics 2024.
Diaz-Naranjo arrived in the French capital just in time for the weightlifting events of the Summer Games where three FilipinosāJohn Ceniza, Elreen Ando and Vanessa Sarnoāare competing.
Diaz crossed paths with one of Team Philippinesā sluggers and her fellow Tokyo Olympian Eumir Marcial, who exited the medal race in his opening bout, and Hergie Bacyadan, who lost in the round of 16. FULL STORY
Aira Villegas ‘not super disappointed’ after Paris Olympics bronze

MANILA, PhilippinesāTeam Philippinesā Aira Villegas capped off her Olympic debut with a bronze medal in the women’s boxing 50kg class at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Wednesday.
But despite failing to advance to the final, Villegas was pleased with her overall performance, which she hopes to have also made his countrymen brimming with pride.
āIām not super disappointed because I know I did my best. And I have to admit, [my opponent] is really good and she studied me well. To all Filipinos who stayed up to watch my fight, I’m sorry. But we’re able to bring home a medal and I hope I still made you all proud,” said Villegas in Filipino in an interview with ONE Sports. FULL STORY

Aira Villegas ran into an accurate-punching opponent and missed out on a final ticket after bowing to Turkiyeās Buse Naz Cakiroglu early Wednesday morning in the womenās 50kg boxing semifinals of the Paris Olympics at Stade Roland Garros.
Villegas will thus settle for the bronze medal, officially becoming the second Filipino to get a podium finish.

MANILA, PhilippinesāIn February of 2023, Aira Villegas absorbed a disheartening quarterfinal loss in the 74th Strandja Cup in Bulgaria at the hands of Franceās Wassila Lkhadiri.
On Sunday morning (Manila time), Villegas stared at the same ghost in almost the same situation in another quarterfinal bout but this time on the biggest stage of them all at the Paris Olympics 2024 in France.
