Both Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals have announced their gala and competition line-ups in the past 24 hours.
While the actor’s strikes have limited talent that can show up, with some titles opting to hold off on hitting the Fall fest circuit this year, there’s still plenty of big name titles set to screen at the fests.
The 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival will include David Fincher’s “The Killer,” Michael Mann’s “Ferrari,” Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things,” Ava DuVernay’s “Origin,” Pablo Larain’s “El Conde,” Luc Besson’s “Dogman” and Nikolaj Arcel’s “The Promised Land” in competition amongst many others.
In addition Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” Richard Linklater’s “Hitman,” William Friedkin’s “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial,” and Roman Polanski’s “The Palace” will also screen out of competition whilst J.A. Bayona’s “Society of the Snow” will close out the fest which runs from August 30th- September 9th.
