10.Chinese scientists make a breakthrough in Chikungunya fever detection

Chinese scientists have made a breakthrough in Chikungunya fever detection by developing a kit solution allowing for the entire detection process within just 30 minutes, according to a laboratory based in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.

The detection kit, based on rapid qPCR technology, was developed by the Guangzhou Laboratory in collaboration with the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and other biomedical companies.

The qPCR, or quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction, is a laboratory technique used to amplify and simultaneously quantify a targeted DNA molecule.

As an advanced form of PCR, it allows researchers to measure the amount of DNA in real time during the amplification process.
